The invention relates to a fire-resistant composition containing at least one star polyamide and a flame retardancy system comprising a phosphinate and a melamine reaction product. The inventive composition can be used to produce elements having a low flame-spread rating upon combustion as well as satisfactory mechanical properties. Said composition is particularly suitable for producing molded elements that are used in the field of electrical and electronic connector technology.

Fire-resistant polyamide composition

Flameproofed polyamide compositions well suited for the production of molded shaped articles, for example those useful in the electrical and electronics fields, such as components for circuit breakers, switches and connectors, comprise a polyamide matrix having an effective flameproofing amount of a flame-/fire-retardation system distributed therethrough, the flame-/fire-retardation system including both a melamine derivative and a molybdenum compound, but, advantageously, no halogen and/or phosphorus flameproofing species.

Flame-retardant polyamide molding compositions

The invention concerns a flame-proofed polyamide composition to be used in particular for making moulded objects. The composition comprises a flame-proofing system consisting of a melamine derivative and a mineral filler consisting of calcined kaolin and is particularly useful for making moulded electrical objects.
