Aspects herein provide for a support garment having a vibration damping structure that is positioned between the breast contacting surfaces of the support garment. The vibration damping structure has a shape and/or material characteristics that enable it to substantially fill the space defined by a medial aspect of the wearer's breasts and the wearer's sternum. This positioning and placement facilitate the damping structure's ability to absorb and dissipate impact forces generated at least through the medial-to-lateral movement of the wearer's breasts during, for example, athletic activities.

Systems and apparatus related to adaptive support garments including adaptive support structures, lacing systems, and an adaptive engine are discussed. In an example, an adaptive support garment can include a textile-based support structure, an adaptive support structure and an adaptive engine is described. The textile-based support structure is configured to support a portion of anatomy of a wearer. The adaptive support structure is integrated into the textile-based support structure and configured to adjust a portion of the textile-based support structure. The adaptive engine is coupled to the adaptive support structure to activate adjustment of the portion of the textile-based support structure.

The apparel item () comprises features to reduce distractions such as a hood () with an integrated eye mask () and foam inserts () integrated into the hood () and configured to be positioned over the wearer's ears when the hood () is worn. The apparel item () further comprises a strap system () that is configured to hold the wearer's head in a static position during upright sleeping.

Alternatively/additionally, the connection points on a protective plate may connect that plate to another protective plate, thereby allowing a structure of interconnected protective plates to be formed.
