A valve body comprises an inner compartment extending along a longitudinal axis from a second end portion towards a first end portion. First, second, and third fluid ports in to the valve body are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The second fluid port is between the third and the first fluid port. A fourth fluid port is parallel to the longitudinal axis. A spool is configured to selectively reciprocate in the inner compartment. The spool comprises a first fluid receptacle configured to block fluid flow to the third fluid port and to fluidly communicate with the second fluid port when the spool adjoins the first end portion. The first fluid receptacle is configured to fluidly communicate with the second fluid port and with the third fluid port when the spool adjoins the second end portion. A second fluid receptacle is configured to receive fluid pressure from the fourth fluid port.

Oil controlled valve

A valve assembly includes a valve body with an interior cavity and one or more supply ports, a control port, and an exhaust port each fluidly connected to the interior cavity. An armature assembly is movable within the interior cavity from a first position to a second position in response to the coil being energized. In some configurations, a regulator body, which is connected to the valve body, has an exhaust passage fluidly connected to the exhaust port. A regulator valve in the regulator body prevents fluid flow out of the exhaust passage when fluid pressure on the regulator valve is at or below a pilot pressure. The regulator valve permits fluid flow out of the exhaust passage when fluid pressure on the regulator valve is greater than the pilot pressure. The valve body is configured to provide fluid from the supply port/ports to the control port.

Solenoid valve assembly with pilot pressure control

An oil control valve assembly includes a valve body and a controller coupled to an exterior end of the valve body. The controller includes a solenoid housing attached to the exterior end of the valve body, and defines an interior region. An encapsulated coil assembly is disposed within the interior region of the solenoid housing. A housing seal is disposed within the interior region of the solenoid housing, in sealing engagement with the solenoid housing, the valve body, and the encapsulated coil assembly. The housing seal is operable to seal the interior region of the solenoid housing to prevent fluid communication between the solenoid housing and the valve body. An adapter assembly is coupled to the valve body to reposition a discharge location of a supply port, a control port, and an exhaust port of the valve body along a longitudinal axis of the valve body.

Engine valvetrain oil control valve

A valve assembly includes a valve body with an interior cavity and a primary supply port, a secondary supply port, a control port, and an exhaust port each extending to the interior cavity. An armature assembly is configured to move within the interior cavity from a first position to a second position when the coil is energized. A regulator body is operatively connected to the valve body and has an exhaust passage positioned at the exhaust port. A regulator valve in the regulator body is configured to prevent flow out of the exhaust passage when fluid pressure on the regulator valve is at or below a pilot pressure and permit flow out of the exhaust passage when fluid pressure on the regulator valve is greater than the pilot pressure. The valve body is configured to provide fluid from the secondary supply port to the control port.

An apparatus such as for a solenoid valve assembly includes a substantially annular flux collector () that has a first arced portion () and at least one additional arced portion (). The first arced portion and the at least one additional arced portion are cooperatively configured to interlock with one another to form the substantially annular flux collector. A method () of manufacturing a solenoid valve assembly using the annular flux collector is also provided.

A pressure swirl atomizer includes a nozzle having an exit orifice and a plurality of tangential swirl channels and a pintle that is movable within a pintle bearing between a closed position that closes the exit orifice and an open position that opens the exit orifice. The atomizer also has a pole piece having a channel, and the pole piece and the pintle are separated by an air gap when the pintle is in the closed position. A space between the pintle and the pintle bearing, the air gap, and the channel together form at least a part of a return path. Fluid from the tangential swirl channels drains through the return path when the pintle is in the closed position. To open the atomizer, a solenoid generates a magnetic force when energized, attracting the pintle toward the pole piece into the open position. A check valve disposed in the return path generates a fluid back pressure when the solenoid is de-energized to push the pintle toward the closed position. The fluid back pressure helps prevent the pintle from getting stuck in the open position.

Pressure swirl atomizer with closure assist

A pressure control valve assembly including a valve body with a valving cavity, a metal insert, a member and ball, a plastic internal ball guide, and a plug. The metal insert, which is received within the valving cavity, includes an exhaust port, a pressure control port, a supply port, and a plug-receiving end. The plastic internal ball guide is included within a portion of the metal insert. The member extends within a portion of the insert and is movable with respect to the exhaust port, the member moving a ball with respect to a supply port. In an embodiment, a plug is received within the plug-receiving end of the insert. A method for making a valve body for a valve assembly is also disclosed.

Pressure control valve assembly

A valve assembly is provided that has a valve body defining first and second valve seats and a fluid chamber between the valve seats. The valve assembly includes a first valve that has an extension portion and a plug portion. The plug portion is configured to be selectively seated at the first valve seat. The extension portion is configured to extend within the fluid chamber past the second valve seat when the plug portion is seated at the first valve seat. A second valve is configured to interfit with the extension portion to connect to the first valve for common movement therewith. The second valve is configured to be selectively seated at the second valve seat. Fluid flow through the fluid chamber past the valve seats is controlled by the common movement of the connected first and second valves.

Valve assembly and method of assembly

A dual sided connector block for a solenoid is provided which may be used in multiple designs. The dual sided connector block includes a base, a first terminal insertion slot on a first side of the base, a second terminal insertion slot on the second side of the base, a tie-off post, and a magnet wire. The magnet wire is operatively configured as a solenoid coil and is routed inside of the base and wound around the tie off post. The magnet wire is accessible to a connector blade inserted through either the first terminal insertion slot or the second terminal insertion slot.

Dual sided connector block

A solenoid assembly for use in connection with a housing and valve body is provided. The assembly includes a magnetic coil, a magnetic pole piece, an operating rod, a magnetic armature, and at least two bearings positioned between a portion of the magnetic pole piece and a portion of the operating rod. The operating rod is slidably disposed along the bearings. The magnetic armature is at least in part centered relative to the pole piece. Activation of the coil provides an attraction between the armature and the pole piece.

Solenoid assembly

An armature for a solenoid assembly is disclosed. The armature includes a first portion, a second portion, and a fin. The first portion has a first axial length and a first diameter, and the first portion is configured for operative connection with a pole piece. The second portion has a second axial length and a second diameter that is larger than the first diameter. The fin extends radially from the second portion and has an axial length that is less than the axial length of the second portion. A solenoid assembly is also disclosed.
