A device for implement localization on an agricultural tractor includes a first tractor-side transponder and a second tractor-side transponder. The first tractor-side transponder includes a first transmission and reception region corresponding with a first mechanical implement interface located on the agricultural tractor, and the second tractor-side transponder includes a second transmission and reception region corresponding with a second mechanical implement interface located on the agricultural tractor. An implement-side transponder is in communication with the first and second tractor-side transponders. Each of the first and second tractor-side transponders transmits a separate position identifier to the implement-side transponder via one of the first or second transmission and reception region, and the position identifier is transmitted back to the respective first or second tractor-side transponder.

A method and a system for operating a mobile robot comprise a range finder for collecting range data of one or more objects in an environment around the robot. A discriminator identifies uniquely identifiable ones of the objects as navigation landmarks. A data storage device stores a reference map of the navigation landmarks based on the collected range data. A data processor establishes a list or sequence of way points for the robot to visit. Each way point is defined with reference to one or more landmarks. A reader reads an optical message at or near one or more way points. A task manager manages a task based on the read optical message.

Method and system for controlling a mobile robot

A mapping module or path filtering module is arranged to identify admissible curved paths for which the vehicle is able to stop prior to reaching a detected obstacle in accordance with an observed translational velocity and an observed rotational velocity. A data processor determines a respective objective function for the candidate translational velocities and candidate rotational velocities associated with the admissible curved paths, where the objective function includes a curvature comparison term associated with the last curved path of the vehicle. A search engine or data processor selects preferential velocities, among the candidate translational velocities and candidate rotational velocities, with a superior value for its corresponding objective function. A path planning module or data processor determines the vehicular speed and trajectory for a path plan that avoids the obstacle consistent with the selected preferential velocities.
