A heater for thermal conduction heating suitable for use in non-vertical heater wells for purposes of soil remediation. The heater includes a rigid bar to position a non-insulated heating element in the casing away from the interior surface of the casing.

Heater for contaminant remediation

A combination subsurface heating system that incorporates electrical resistance heating and thermal conduction heating with systems disposed within a single borehole. The combination heating system includes an electrically conductive outermost well casing and a heating element that is electrically isolated from the casing but disposed within it or in an adjacent casing but within the same borehole. Each of the two heating components is powered by a separate power source.

Thermal conduction heater well and electrical resistance heating electrode

A method and system to remediate soil containing PFAS compounds and organic carbon. Total organic carbon is reduced by heating the soil at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient duration to reduce surface effects between the PFAS compounds and the organic carbon to permit evaporation and treatment of the PFAS compounds from the soil.

PFAS remediation method and system

A heater having a helical electrical resistance heating wire connected to and coiled around a current return wire. The heater is employed in thermal conduction heater wells used for removing contaminants from soil, groundwater or rock.

Flexible helical heater

Water containing one or more solvents miscible in the water is heated to its boiling point. Air is introduced into the vapor mixture of steam and the miscible solvent at an air-to-steam volumetric ratio that is sufficient to get good transfer of the miscible solvent from the steam to air and provides an equilibrium temperature of the steam-air mixture compatible with operations of the heat exchanger. The mixture of gases is then rapidly cooled to condense the steam into water so that a substantial portion of the miscible solvent remains volatilized in the air. The air and condensed steam fractions are separated.

Miscible solvent treatment

A method for pollutants using an iron-impregnated, carbon-coated silica sand with the iron containing between to and 16 percent silicon. The invention provides an improved method for performing remeditation of pollutants by dissolved metal reactions while minimizing interferences caused by oxide fouling from oxygen in the water or in the atmosphere. The invention further provides an inexpensive media with high surface area for adsorptive fixation and reductive treatment that yields higher than anticipated reaction kinetics utilizing only low concentrations of iron in the media.

Method for treatment of pollutants using iron-impregnated, carbon-coated, silica sand

The present invention presents an improved method and apparatus for liquid entrainment by a two-phase flow system. The present invention provides an apparatus that recovers liquids by entrainment without experiencing deadhead conditions, choking or dry recovery due to fluctuations in the elevation of the liquid level. The apparatus provides self-regulated two-phase recovery of gas and liquid by construction design, thus eliminating the need for manual adjustments or electronically controlled devices. The enhanced venturi effects of the present invention enhance liquid lift while maintaining the gas recovery point above the liquid at all times to eliminate deadhead conditions.

Method and apparatus for fluid entrainment

The permanganate ion and an alkaline earth metal base of calcium and/or magnesium are distributed into the soil by a means of mechanical mixing to destroy contaminants in the soil and groundwater by chemical oxidation. The disclosed method produces a stable, post-treatment, manganese dioxide precipitate that does not adversely effect the ground water with high dissolved manganese concentrations. The permanganate salts may include potassium, magnesium or sodium permanganate, and the preferred alkaline earth metal bases may include calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide. Dolomite quick lime may be used to supply an inexpensive source of the desired calcium and/or magnesium base. The calcium and/or magnesium base may be added before, during or after the addition of the permanganate salt.
