Systems including intra-calvarial implants and/or subdermal implants are capable of stimulating cortical regions and sensing and electrical signals is implanted within or on a calvarial bone of a skull. The implants have current steering capability to change the current density profiles applied to selected cortical regions underlying the implant. The systems may track changes in the position and/or spatial parameters of a neural network by recording cortical electrical signals and processing them to compute the values of one or more network activity biomarkers. The systems may spatially track changes detected in network anatomical position and deliver the stimulation of the cortex to the network detected position by using current steering methods.

Devices, systems and methods for cortical stimulation

An intra-calvarial implant (ICI) includes a housing including a sealed compartment having a top part, a bottom part and a side wall, and a current directing mechanism extending from the bottom part of the sealed compartment. The ICI also includes one or more electrodes for sensing electrical signals from the brain and/or for electrically stimulating one or more regions of the brain. The ICI includes at least one auxiliary electrode (that may be a reference and/or source/sink electrode) and an electronic circuitry module (ECM), sealingly disposed within the sealed compartment and operatively connected to the one or more electrodes and to the at least one reference electrode. The ECM controls the operation of the ICI and wirelessly communicates with an external telemetry device. The ICI includes a power harvesting device electrically connected to the ECM of the ICI for providing power thereto.

Methods, devices, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for brain-controlled body movement assistance devices. In one aspect, a device includes a brain-controlled body movement assistance device with a brain-computer interface (BCI) component adapted to be mounted to a user, a body movement assistance component operably connected to the BCI component and adapted to be worn by the user, and a feedback mechanism provided in connection with at least one of the BCI component and the body movement assistance component, the feedback mechanism being configured to output information relating to a usage session of the brain-controlled body movement assistance device.

A system for stimulating a sympathetic chain includes an electrode assembly that is configured to attach to a bone in proximity to a targeted portion of the sympathetic chain. The electrode assembly includes a cathode and an anode. The system also includes a power supply connected to the electrode assembly and configured to deliver power to the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly generates an electrical field between the cathode and the anode when power is delivered to the electrode assembly. The electrical field reaches the targeted portion of the sympathetic chain to provide electrical stimulation to the targeted portion of the sympathetic chain.

A method of using a catheter assembly for inserting in a fluid filled space in a body includes providing a main body having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion is positioned within the fluid filled space. The second end portion is adjusted to extend outwardly from the fluid filled space when the first end portion is positioned within the fluid filled space. A catheter tip is connected to the second end portion of the main body. The catheter tip includes a housing having a cavity defined therein and a rotating element positioned within the fluid filled space. The rotating element is rotated within the cavity of the housing to impart movement of the first end portion of the main body within the fluid filled space.

This document discloses EEG headset designs that address shortcomings in prior art headsets and also provides headset solutions for new and useful applications utilizing EEG headsets. One such application is brain computer interface (BCI) applications, and more specifically, a BCI application for stroke therapy in which the headset is utilized to obtain ipsilateral brain signals. A system to deliver current to an area of interest of a subject is described that includes a power source, a controller electrically coupled to the power source, at least one first electrode electrically coupled to the controller, and at least one second electrode electrically coupled to one of the power source and the controller, with the area of interest positioned between the at least one first electrode and the at least one second electrode. A method of stimulating at least one of bone growth, tissue healing and pain control within an area of interest of a patient is described that includes inserting first and second electrode spaced at a predetermined distance, and further includes directing an electric current between the first and second electrodes so that at least a portion of the electric current passes through the area of interest positioned between the first electrode and the second electrode.

Method of using a catheter assembly

A system for use in stimulating bone growth, tissue healing, and/or pain control is described. The system includes a screw, a battery, a controller, and means for connecting the battery such that current is routed from the battery through the screw and thence to a target area of interest requiring treatment. The screw includes an elongate shaft having a length extending between opposite ends. The shaft has an insulating coating extending along at least a portion of the length. The thickness of the insulating coating at various portions of the shaft is modulated to optimally direct current to a target area of interest requiring treatment. The controller adjusts the duty cycle of the current flow over the treatment period.

A system for use in stimulating at least one of bone growth, tissue healing and pain control in a patient includes a first screw and a second screw. The first screw has an elongate shaft with opposite ends and a length extending between the ends, an exterior surface and a screw thread formed on the exterior surface of the shaft and extending along at least a portion of the length. The screw thread has an electrically conducting portion and an electrically insulating portion. The electrically conducting portion is located for deposition in a first pre-specified portion of the patient and the electrically insulating portion is located for deposition in a second pre-specified portion of the patient. An electrical power source is adapted to pass electrical current through the patient between the first and second screws. The electrical power source is operatively connected to the first screw for conveying current through the electrically conducting portion of the screw thread to the first pre-specified portion. The electrically insulating portion inhibits current from being conveyed to the second pre-specified portion.

A catheter assembly for inserting in a fluid filled space in a body includes a main body having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion is positionable within the fluid filled space and the second end portion is adapted to extend outward from the fluid filled space when the first end portion is positioned within the fluid filled space. The catheter assembly also includes a catheter tip that is connected to the second end portion. The catheter tip includes a housing having a cavity defined therein. The catheter tip also includes a rotating element positioned within the cavity. The rotating element is configured to rotate within the cavity to facilitate movement of the first end portion of the main body within the fluid filled space.
