A physiological sensor includes a sensing element to detect physiological information from a patient's skin, a substrate configured to hold the sensing element on the patient's skin, and at least two contact probes on the substrate. The contact probes are positioned on the substrate such that galvanically contact the patient's skin when the substrate is fully attached against the patient's skin. A controller is configured to measure impedance between the at least two contact probes and determine whether the substrate has lifted from the patient's skin based on the impedance.

Physiological sensor and sensing method with sensor lift detection

A wireless patient monitoring system includes at least one wireless physiological sensor having a sensing element senses physiological parameter information from a patient. A sensor controller is configured to determine a current parameter value based on the physiological parameter information and to compare the current parameter value to a prior parameter value. Based on the comparison, the sensor controller determines if the current parameter value is redundant of the prior parameter value. If so, then the current parameter value is not transmitted. If the current parameter is not redundant of the prior parameter value, then a wireless transmitter is controlled to wirelessly transmit the current parameter value.

Wireless patient monitoring system and method

A neonatal care system includes a platform for supporting an infant, a plurality of part tags each embedded in a part within the neonatal care device, and at least one part reader. Each of the plurality of part tags is configured to transmit a part identifier and the at least one part reader is configured to receive the part identifiers transmitted from the plurality of the part tags. A controller is configured to store at least one part identifier catalog, receive the part identifiers from the part reader, and compare the part identifiers generated by the plurality of part tags to the at least one part identifier catalog. If any of the received part identifiers does not match the at least one part identifier catalog, then an alert is generated.

Neonatal care system and method of tracking composition thereof

A wireless patient monitoring system includes a host device configured to pair with one or more wireless physiological sensors to receive physiological data therefrom. The host device includes a nearfield communication (NFC) transmitter emitting an electromagnetic field. The system includes at least one wireless physiological sensor having a sensing element that senses physiological parameter information from a patient, a battery, and a field detection circuit configured to detect NFC field and to generate an activation signal thereupon. A sensor controller is configured to operate in a sleep state that maximizes battery power consumption by the wireless physiological sensor and to receive the activation signal from the field detection circuit when the NFC field is detected. After receipt of the activation signal, the sensor controller operates the wireless physiological sensor in an activated mode that enables full power consumption by the wireless physiological sensor.
