Idle relief mufflers are configured to discharge exhaust gases from an outboard motor to atmosphere surrounding the outboard motor when an internal combustion engine of the outboard motor is operated at idle and at low speeds. The idle relief mufflers comprise a housing having an open interior, an inlet port configured to convey the exhaust gases to the open interior, and an outlet port configured to discharge the exhaust gases from the open interior. An exhaust grommet is connected to the outlet port. The exhaust grommet comprises a body that is configured to engage with a cowl of the outboard motor and an extension that extends through the outlet port and protrudes into the open interior. The extension and the body together define a through-bore that is configured to convey the exhaust gases from the open interior to the atmosphere.

The following describes an apparatus for and method of clamping a device, such as a fuel injector, to a platform, such as a cylinder head, and thereafter removing the device from the platform together with the clamp. A retaining sleeve is deformed such that the retaining sleeve is held in place between the clamp and a ledge on a fastener disposed within the clamp. The retaining sleeve secures the fastener to the clamp during removal of the fastener, thereby providing that the clamp assembly and the device, such as a fuel injector, are removed together.

A valve includes a valve body () disposable within a chamber () of a housing () and capable of being fluidly sealed with respect to the housing () when the valve is closed. At least one radial passage () is disposed in the valve body (). At least one axial passage () is disposed in the valve body () in fluid communication with the at least one radial passage (). An apparatus for of reliably separating the male and female members of a coupling that may be used in high pressure conditions. A release collar () has an actuator (), a release sleeve flange (), and a ring (). The actuator () is thinner than those utilized in known release sleeves, and may be advantageously located in closer proximity to the male member () than to the female member (), such that the actuator may radially expand between the male and female members. The actuator () may be comprised of a cylindrical annulus and/or fingers disposed in a circular pattern. The ring () may have a lip () that allows the release collar () to remain with the female member ().
