For use in a reciprocating floor slat conveyor system having formed slats made of steel, a gap filler for sealing the gaps between side-by-side steel slats includes a portion that extends upwardly into the gap, and a lower portion that is connected to one of the side-by-side slats. The gap filler is installed by pushing down the gap filler into the gap between slats.

A roll-formed steel slat for use in a reciprocating floor slat conveyor system. The roll-formed steel slat is formed in a manner so as to have an upper, load-carrying surface, and a pair of downwardly depending side legs. Each side leg terminates in a foot. One foot is vertically offset from the other to provide a 'hold-down' function that prevents the slat from vertically rising as the slat reciprocates back-and-forth.

All-steel reciprocating floor slat system

The invention disclosed here is a moving headboard for use in connection with a reciprocating floor slat system. It is particularly well-suited for use in connection with load-hauling trailers that have built-in reciprocating floor slat conveyors for unloading the trailer. Trailers of this kind are used in lieu of hydraulic lifts and involve inching the load off the trailer. The moving headboard sweeps the trailer floor clean during the unloading process.

An improved outer reciprocating floor slat for use in a truck trailer or the like. The outer floor slat is located adjacent to a trailer's side wall. The floor slat has a portion that extends laterally upwardly and outwardly until it reaches the trailer's side wall at an elevation above the normal load-carrying floor elevation of the reciprocating floor slats. The upwardly extending portion facilitates material movement away from the corner region where the reciprocating floor normally intersects the trailer's side walls.

Movable conveyor slats () have side parts () which rest on top parts of bearings (). The bearings () have a generally U-shaped cross section and they fit on wings (') which extend outwardly and slope upwardly from the sides of a fixed conveyor slat (&#x2032;). Fixed conveyor slats (&#x2032;) have base portions (&#x2032;) and upper insert portions (&#x2032;). The inserts (&#x2032;) have downwardly extending ribs () on their sides which extend into upwardly opening grooves () in the base portions (). The movable slats () have web () and lower flange portions () which with the side parts () of the slats () form laterally outwardly opening channels. The wings (&#x2032;) and the bearings () are received within the channels ().

A reciprocating slat conveyor includes a plurality of side-by-side support beams () and conveyor slats () which fit onto the support beam (). The support beams () are constructed from metal. The conveyor slats () are constructed from plastic. In one embodiment (FIGS.-) the plastic slats () are snapped fit onto the support beams (). In some other embodiments (FIGS.and) the conveyor slats () are slid lengthwise onto the support beams ().

An elongated plastic slide bearing () comprises a top (), sidewalls () depending from the top (), and connecting to walls (and) that form laterally inwardly extending recesses (). Lock ribs () extend upwardly and inwardly from the inner walls () of the recesses () to upper edges (). The upper edges () are spaced below the bearing top (). The bearing () is adapted to be set down onto a support beam () that includes laterally outwardly projecting lock flanges () at its top. The lock ribs () contact the lock flanges (). When the bearing () is pushed downwardly, the lock ribs () bend outwardly and allow the lock ribs () to move into a position below the lock flanges (). When that happens, the lock ribs () assume substantially unstressed positions in which their upper edges () are below the lock flanges (). The sidewalls () and the lock ribs () are bendable to allow a floor slat () to be snap-fit down onto the bearing ().

A reciprocating slat conveyor (22) conveys a body of bulk material (16) to the outlet end (21) of a container (12). The body of bulk material (16) is moved against a sloughing wall (10). The sloughing wall (10) includes a plurality of slats (40) that are mounted for generally up and down reciprocation. The slats (40) carry bulk material engaging teeth (60, 62). In response to the generally up and down movement of the slats (40) the teeth (60, 62) break loose the bulk material (16). The loosened bulk material falls down onto a secondary conveyor (14) which leads it away from the container (12).
