A method and system for providing a feedback based dynamic pricing algorithm with an embedded controller for a HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lane. An input-output transfer function of a vehicle flow with respect to a HOT lane can be obtained utilizing a simulation module. A feedback controller combined with, for example, a Smith predictor can be designed to avoid an unstable behavior due to a time delay in the HOT lane, a price regulation, and a large transient caused by an integral part of the controller due to traffic jams. A driver behavior preference model can be derived based on a relationship between a toll rate and several characteristics of the HOT lane and a general purpose lane. The feedback controller and the behavior preference model can then be implemented to set the toll rate in real-time in order to satisfy a desired performance metric.

Systems and methods are described that facilitate compensating for slow scan direction displacement (e.g., skew and/or bow) defects in a raster line using slow-scan electronic registration. Input image data is buffered at low-resolution (e.g., 600 spi or the like). Displacement compensation is performed as the low-resolution contone image data is converted to high-resolution (e.g., 2400 spi or the like), and a displaced (e.g., staggered) halftoning threshold array is indexed to account for detected displacement. Displacement compensation is again performed during conversion of the high-resolution contone image data to high-resolution binary image data that is used to generate an output image.

A xerographic marking device includes a media transport path and at least one two-color image-on-image (IOI) drum module. Each two-color IOI drum module includes in a process order around a photoreceptor: a) a first charging unit; b) a first exposure unit; c) a first development unit; d) a second charging unit; e) a second exposure unit; and f) a second development unit, wherein the intermediate transfer unit receives a first toned image and a second toned image from the photoreceptor in a single transfer and transfers those toner images to print media to produce a toned image on print media. A non-gated print media crossover for a printing system includes crossover pathways which intersect at a crossover junction. A control system controls arrival of sheets of print media at the crossover junction whereby a sheet conveyed on the first crossover pathway traverses the junction in an intersheet gap between sheets traversing the junction on the second crossover pathway. The printing system includes print media processing units, such as marking engines, paper sources, and output destinations, which are connected by a conveyor system incorporating the crossover.

Density or reflectance targets for respective first and second marking engines of a document processing system are determined. A series of control patches is printed with the respective first and second marking engines. Relative reflectance values of each control patch printed with the first and second engines are determined. First marking engine relative reflectance error values of each control patch and second marking engine relative reflectance error values of each control patch are determined correspondingly based at least on (a) corresponding first engine relative reflectance value and target relative reflectance value and (b) corresponding second engine relative reflectance value and target relative reflectance value. Based at least on one of the first and second marking engine relative reflectance error values, at least one of the first and second engine relative reflectance targets is adjusted. Based at least on the adjusted target, an image quality control of the document processing system is improved.

A system and method for delivering phase change ink to a plurality of printheads is provided. The system includes an ink source having a housing for holding solid phase change ink, an ink melter assembly having a heated ink contact portion for melting the solid phase change ink and a drip point. The system also includes a first conduit for transferring the melted ink to a first printhead, and a second conduit for transferring the melted ink to a second printhead. The method includes melting a solid phase change into the liquid phase, transferring the liquid phase change ink to the first printhead in a first conduit, transferring liquid phase change ink to the second printhead in a second conduit. The solid phase change ink can be stored in a single ink source.

An ink jet printer includes a printer housing, an imaging drum, a drum frame connected to the printer housing and the imaging drum, a print head frame movably mounted in the printer housing, at least two print heads mounted to the print head frame, a first alignment pin connected to the print head frame, and a second alignment pin connected to the print head frame. The imaging drum includes first and second ends. The drum frame includes a first support connected to the first end of the imaging drum and a second support connected to the second end of the imaging drum. The first support includes a first docking station and the second support includes a second docking station. The print head is movable between a printing position and a cleaning position. Each alignment pin connects to the print head frame and extends generally towards the drum frame. The first alignment pin is adapted to be received by the first docking station when the print head frame is moved into the printing position. The second alignment pin is adapted to be received by the second docking station when the print head frame is moved into the printing position.

By repeatedly evaluating the beam-to-beam spacing error during operation, the apparatus of the invention is able to correct beam-to-beam spacing errors that may develop during operation and does not permit residual errors to persist even after an initial correction has been implemented.

A system and method for tracking belts disposed on rollers in a photoreceptor apparatus. The system includes a movable, belt edge guide that operates in combination with an encoder, a belt edge sensor, a belt hole sensor for detecting a hole in the belt surface, wherein the profile of the edge of the belt is learned as a function of the belt position on the rollers. The encoder and belt hole sensor are used to actuate the edge guide system to compensate for the contours of the belt edge and to maintain a constant lateral position of the belt at any given point on the belt.
