Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining network-related information for a terrestrial cell and for an aerial cell that has been deployed to offload traffic from the terrestrial cell, determining whether traffic has been offloaded from the terrestrial cell to the aerial cell based on the network-related information obtained over time, responsive to a determination that traffic has been offloaded, determining whether a current load on the terrestrial cell satisfies a threshold, responsive to a determination that the current load satisfies the threshold, instructing the aerial cell to enable boosting of synchronization signal power, obtaining additional network-related information for the terrestrial cell and the aerial cell, identifying whether additional traffic has been offloaded from the terrestrial cell to the aerial cell based on the additional network-related information, and performing action(s) to increase or decrease the synchronization signal power based on the identifying. System and method for boosting power of synchronization signals for aerial cells

The technologies described herein are generally directed to mapping signal propagation using idle mode user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include, facilitating receiving, a message from a user equipment, with the message including signal information describing detection of a signal of a carrier of base station equipment while the user equipment was in an idle mode at a first location. The method can further include identifying a second location of the base station equipment corresponding to a time when the signal was transmitted, wherein the second location is different from the first location. Further, the method can include based on the first location, the second location, and the signal information, estimating a path loss of the carrier at the first location.

Estimating signal propagation based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode

The technologies described herein are generally directed to generating a propagation model based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include, based on a first location in a geographic area of a signal measurement measured by a user equipment in an idle mode, and a transmission location of the signal, estimating an estimated first path loss value. The method can further include, based on the estimated first path loss value and a second path loss value of a second carrier signal received from the carrier signal source, determining an antenna pattern of the carrier signal source. Further, the method can include based on the antenna pattern, generating a propagation model for the carrier signal source.

Generating a propagation model based on sampling by user equipment in idle mode

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a first communication device in idle mode, determining a first location associated with the first communication device, and determining a first mobility type associated with the first communication device. Further embodiments can include obtaining a neighbor list associated with a group of base stations in proximity to the first communication device, the neighbor list include a group of beam identifiers associated with each of the group of base stations. Additional embodiments can include providing first instructions to a serving base station associated with the first communication device indicating the serving base station to generate a beam priority table based on the first location of the first communication device, first mobility type associated with the first communication device, and the group of beam identifiers associated with each of the group of base stations. Methods, systems, and devices for cell-reselection over mobile networks using beamforming

An architecture to improving handover performance when servicing unmanned aerial vehicles over advanced networks. A method can comprise determining a first group of frequencies that serving cell equipment is capable of supporting, identifying a first frequency of the first group of frequencies and a second frequency of the first group of frequencies based on determining a probability value associated with the first frequency and the second frequency overlapping, determining a second group of frequencies that are supported by an unmanned aerial vehicle determining that the unmanned aerial vehicle is using the first frequency to communicate with the serving cell equipment, determining handover serving cell equipment for the unmanned aerial vehicle based on tracking data associated with the unmanned aerial vehicle, and instructing the target cell equipment to decrease a first transmission gain value associated with the first frequency and increase a second transmission gain value associated with the second frequency.

Handover performance when serving aerial user equipment over advanced networks

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a communication device communicatively coupled to a serving base station, requesting a device type associated with the communication device from the serving base station, and determining the communication device comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle based on the device type. Further embodiments can include generating a customized radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message based on the communication device comprising the unmanned aerial vehicle, and transmitting the customized RRC reconfiguration message to the communication device via the serving base station. Methods, systems, and devices for detecting cells for unmanned aerial vehicles over mobile networks

The disclosed technology is directed towards user equipment requests for delivery of other system information block (SIB) data from a base station, in which one or more beams for transmitting the other SIB data can be specified by the user equipment based on its state data. Transmitting via only selected beams saves network resources, generally without increasing user equipment retry requests. The user equipment can determine which beam(s) it detects based on beam signal strength data, and determine mobility data of the user equipment. The user equipment determines beam sweeping delivery data based on the detected beam signal strength data and/or the mobility data, and associates the beam sweeping request data with the request for the other SIB data. The network selects one or more beams for sweeping to deliver the other SIB data based on the beam sweeping request data of the user equipment, and possibly other user equipment.

System information delivery via beam sweeping in advanced networks

The technologies described herein are generally directed to providing radio resources to facilitate a predicted transition to active mode by idle user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include predicting that a user equipment of a group of user equipment in an idle mode will transition to an active mode during a time duration. The method can further include, identifying base station equipment that are able to provide coverage to the group of user equipment during the time duration. Further, the method can include, based on predicting the user equipment will transition to active mode, prioritizing allocation among the base station equipment, of resources to provide coverage to facilitate an active mode connection by the user equipment to the base station equipment.

Allocating resources among communication cells based on a potential communication load of user equipment in idle mode

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving information regarding an aerial UE that is communicatively coupled with a network node, obtaining data associated with the network node that correlates altitude values with signal quality levels and/or probabilities of connectivity disruption, determining a conservative height threshold and an aggressive height threshold for the network node based on the data, wherein the conservative threshold is lower than the aggressive threshold, analyzing the information regarding the aerial UE, based on the analyzing, selecting either the conservative threshold or the aggressive threshold for the network node to use for the aerial UE, resulting in a selected height threshold, wherein the selected height threshold affects a frequency or likelihood of height-based trigger events for the aerial UE, and causing the network node to include the selected threshold in height-based measurement report settings for the aerial UE. Systems and methods for customizing height-based measurement report settings for aerial user equipment (UEs)

The technologies described herein are generally directed to providing, based on a paging message, radio resources to facilitate a transition to active mode by idle user equipment in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. An example method can include identifying an idle mode activation message. The method can further include, based on the activation message, predicting that the user device is going to request an active connection. Further, the method can include prioritizing allocation of antenna resources to the user device over different user devices in an idle state, based on a prediction that the user device will transition to an active state before the different user devices. Further, the method can include, based on the prioritizing, directing a base station to cause a beamformed signal to a predicted location of the user device to accept the active connection.

Facilitating transition to active mode by an idle device based on an activation request

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, providing instructions to an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), via a serving base station, to collect target height thresholds of target base stations. The UAV receives the target height thresholds from the target base stations, and transmits the target height thresholds to a network device, via the serving base station. Further embodiments can include determining a current height of the UAV exceeds a serving height threshold of the serving base station, selecting a first target base station from the target base stations based on the determination and a first target height threshold of the group of target height thresholds of the first target base station, and providing instructions to the serving base station to perform handover of the UAV from the serving base station to the first target base station based on the selection. Methods, systems, and devices for broadcasting height-based threshold of base stations for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over mobile networks

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, providing, over a mobile network, first instructions to a first serving base station to indicate to a first communication device communicatively coupled to the first serving base station to obtain a beam bitmap of a group of base stations in proximity to the first serving base station. Further embodiments can include receiving, over the mobile network, the beam bitmap from the first serving base station, and determining a beam density for each of the group of base stations. Additional embodiments can include adjusting a neighbor list to include the beam density for each of the group of base stations resulting in an adjusted neighbor list. Methods, systems, and devices for enhancing neighbor lists for mobile networks using beamforming

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, over a communication network, a measurement report from each of group of communication devices associated with a mobile network resulting in a group of measurement reports, and determining a first communication device of the group of communication devices requests a handover from a serving base station to another base station. Further embodiments can include selecting a receiving base station from a group of base stations based on the group of measurement reports, and providing instructions to the serving base station to handover the first communication device to the receiving base station. Methods, systems, and devices for load balancing over a mobile network using beamforming

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a first extended cell global identifier (ECGI) of an aerial base station (ABS), determining a location of the ABS, and determining that a terrestrial base station (TBS) is within a distance threshold of the location of the ABS. Further embodiments include providing the first ECGI of the ABS to the TBS, and providing instructions to the TBS to obtain an ECGI from each terrestrial communication device (TCD) communicatively coupled to the TBS. Each of the TCDs obtain the ECGI for each neighboring base station. The TCDs provide the ECGIs to the TBS. Additional embodiments include configuring a neighboring list with the ECGIs of the neighboring base stations, and providing instructions to the TBS to identify as high priority a second ECGI of the ABS within the neighboring list based on the first ECGI of the ABS. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Methods, systems, and devices for identifying an aerial base station in mobile networks

The disclosed technology is directed towards user equipment requests for delivery of other system information block (SIB) data from a base station, in which one or more repetitions of the other SIB data transmissions can be requested in a single request. Transmitting repeated response messages reduces the need for the user equipment to retry the requesting procedure when errors occur with respect to correctly receiving a single instance of the other SIB data. The user equipment can measure signal quality and obtain reported signal quality by the base station. The user equipment determines repetition data, based on the signal quality difference, for delivery of the other SIB data. The request sent by the user equipment includes the repetition data, whereby the base station repeats the transmission of instances of the other SIB data to increase the likelihood that an instance will be correctly received and decoded by the user equipment.
