Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) may include applying a periodic excitation signal via an electrode of a CGM sensor to human interstitial fluid to drive an oxidation/reduction reaction, and measuring the current through the electrode. In some embodiments, the measured current is sampled and digitized, and various harmonics of the excitation signal's fundamental frequency are extracted. A set of relationships of at least two harmonics each is generated from the spectral amplitudes of a set of pairs, triplets, etc., of the harmonics, and the set of relationships is mapped to a glucose concentration such as based on the contents of a harmonic relationship database having a pre-existing set of harmonic relationships and glucose concentrations to which those sets of harmonic relationships correspond, for example. Numerous other embodiments are provided.

Methods and apparatus for analyte concentration monitoring using harmonic relationships

A test sensor container for use with an analyte measuring system may include a cartridge that includes a base, two opposite sidewalls extending away from the base, and a plurality of compartments each dimensioned to hold a test sensor. At least one of the two opposite sidewalls is oriented at an acute angle relative to a reference axis that is perpendicular to the base. The test sensor container may further include at least one foil cover sealing the plurality of compartments and an ejection mechanism.

Linear, cartridge-based glucose measurement system

A test sensor container () is designed for use with an analyte measuring system (). The test sensor container () may include a cartridge () including a plurality of stacked individual compartments () connected to one another in an accordion-style fashion. The first semi-circular housing and the second semi-circular housing are positioned adjacent to each other.

Glucose measurement system with high-capacity cartridge and capability of more frequent replenishment

The main body is configured from a lower housing, an upper housing extending over a portion of the lower housing, and an actuator operatively engaged to the upper and lower housings with the actuator extending along the portion of the lower housing not covered by the upper housing. The upper housing further includes an actuator button, wherein a lancet may be placed within the body such that movement of the actuator from a first position to a second position away from said endcap cocks the lancet for firing, which is achieved by depressing the actuator button. Conveniently, the lancing device is configured for tactile recognition in the palm of a human hand and may preferably be operated one handed and without visual observation.

A method for distinguishing between types of electrochemical test sensors in a meter is disclosed. The method comprises the acts of providing an electrochemical test sensor comprising an enzyme and a chemical additive, contacting the test sensor to the meter to form an electrical connection, applying a potential having a magnitude sufficient to initiate a redox reaction of the chemical additive, and determining which type of electrochemical test sensor is being used based on whether a predetermined signal has been generated after the potential has been applied. The meter is adapted to determine an analyte concentration in a fluid sample.

Method for distinguishing electrochemical sensors

An electrochemical test sensor for detecting the concentration of an analyte in a sample. The electrochemical test sensor comprises a base that provides a flow path for the fluid test sample having a counter electrode and a working electrode on its surface in electrical communication with a detector of electrical current. The electrochemical test sensor further includes a reagent layer directly located on the surface of the working electrode. The reagent layer includes an enzyme that is adapted to react with the analyte. The electrochemical test sensor further comprises a lid adapted to mate with the base and to assist in forming a capillary space with an opening for the introduction of the sample thereto. The capillary space is formed with a three-dimensional portion of the lid.

A method of detecting incomplete filling of an electrochemical biosensor by collecting a series of electrical current values when a constant electrical potential is applied across the working and counter electrodes during a preliminary burn period. The slope of a line determined by linear regression based on the series of current values is used to determine whether or not the biosensor is incompletely filled. If the line has a positive slope, the biosensor is reported to be under filled. If the slope is not positive, the correlation coefficient of the current values is used as a supplemental test to indicate whether or not the biosensor is incompletely filled.

Detecting incomplete fill of biosensors

A sensor for analyzing a fluid sample has a sample cavity for accepting sample fluid. At least one test region is disposed along the sample cavity, and at least one vent fulfills the dual function of venting the sample cavity and guiding the sample fluid in the sample cavity via appropriate location and geometry of at least one sample guide edge.
