An embodiment includes an artificial chordae tendineae system comprising: a first needle; a flexible first chord coupled to a proximal end portion of the first needle; a first proximal pledget coupled to a proximal end portion of the first chord; a first distal conduit coupled to the first chord between the first proximal pledget and the first needle; wherein: the first distal conduit includes first and second faces; one of the first and second faces includes a first aperture; a sidewall of the first conduit, located between the first and second faces, includes a sidewall aperture that does not directly connect to the first aperture; the sidewall aperture is configured to include a portion of the first chord when the first distal conduit is permanently implanted adjacent tissue but not when the first distal conduit is traversing the tissue before being permanently implanted adjacent the tissue.

Pull-through chordae tendineae system

A system for providing a continuous flow of blood between two locations in a cardiovascular system of a patient is provided. The system includes a blood conduit having a proximal portion configured to be attached to an artery. The system also includes a distal portion configured to be inserted into a blood vessel at an insertion site and to be advanced there through to a location spaced apart from the insertion site. Moreover, the system includes a reinforcement member positioned at least partially about the blood conduit in at least one of the distal portion, the proximal portion, or a combination thereof.

Methods for forming molded orthopedic implants with at least one mesh substrate having opposing upper and lower primary surfaces. At least a major portion of the mesh substrate lower primary surface is integrally moldably attached to the molded implant body. The methods are carried out so that the mesh substrate has at least one selectively exposed region devoid of molded material that exposes at least a portion of the mesh substrate upper surface to at least a partial thickness of the mesh substrate so as to allow for tissue in-growth in the at least one exposed region of the mesh substrate.

Methods for forming implants with selectively exposed mesh for fixation and related implants

Non-articulating semi-rigid spinal implants include upper and lower rigid endplates that define at least one aligned pair of rigid male and female members. The respective female member having an interior facing cavity and the respective male member facing toward the female cavity. At least one elastic member resides in each female member cavity. The device can include an optional housing with at least one bore for each of the at least one aligned pairs of female and male members. The housing bore is sized and configured to snugly encase each respective aligned pair of endplate male and female members while leaving an upper outer surface of the upper endplate and a lower outer surface of the lower endplate exposed.
