Colorless or colored coatings can be ink jetted onto a substrate using an aqueous particle-free inkjet ink composition that has a viscosity of less than 5 centipoises, and that includes a combination of an anionic polyether polyurethane and an anionic acrylic polymer or anionic styrene-acrylic polymer, in a total amount of less than or equal to 20 weight %. The composition can be colorless (free of colorants) or it can contain a suitable colorant to provide a color image. The composition also includes a defoamer that has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance value of at least 3 and up to and including 5, and which is present in an amount of at least 0.15 weight % and up to and including 1 weight %. Such composition can be used in inkjet printing methods including recirculation apparatus and methods, and can be provided as part of an ink set.

Non-foaming aqueous particle-free inkjet ink compositions

An aqueous organic pigment dispersion contains a green copper phthalocyanine pigment and an azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment. It also includes an organic pigment dispersant at 40 weight % to 100 weight %, based on the sum of the weights of the organic pigments. This aqueous organic pigment dispersion can be combined with a humectant to provide an aqueous green inkjet ink composition. The weight ratio of the green copper phthalocyanine pigment to the azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment is from 1:1 to 10:1. The median particle diameter of each of the green copper phthalocyanine pigment and the azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment is less than 85 nm. At least 95% of the total particles of each of the green copper phthalocyanine pigment and the azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment have a particle diameter of less than 150 nm. The aqueous green inkjet ink compositions can be used in various inkjet printing methods.

In particular, these methods provide a green image or expanded color gamut for other inkjet printed colors. The aqueous organic pigment dispersion contains a green copper phthalocyanine pigment and an azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment and an organic pigment dispersant. The weight ratio of the green copper phthalocyanine pigment to the azo-coupled &#x3b2;-ketoamide pigment is from 1:1 to 10:1. Method of inkjet printing green images

The present invention generally relates a method of forming a polarizing plate comprising providing two protective cover sheets, each protective cover sheet for polarizers comprising a low birefringence protective polymer film and a layer promoting adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol)-containing films comprising a hydrophilic polymer. The cover sheets are brought into contact with a PVA dichroic polarizing film such that said layer promoting adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol)-containing films in each of said two cover sheets is in contact with said PVA dichroic polarizing film. A glue composition is applied just before contacting said PVA dichroic polarizing film and said cover sheets, said glue composition being substantially free of dissolved polymer and comprising a crosslinking agent that crosslinks PVA.

Ultraviolet light absorbing polymer film, coating, or molded article UV filter elements are described which comprise a polymer phase having molecularly dispersed therein a) a first ultraviolet absorbing dibenzoylmethane compound of formula (I)where R1 through R5 are each independently hydrogen, halogen, nitro, or hydroyxl, or further substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkoxy, acyloxy, ester, carboxyl, alkyl thio, aryl thio, alkyl amine, aryl amine, alkyl nitrile, aryl nitrile, arylsulfonyl, or 5-6 member heterocylce ring groups, and b) a second ultraviolet light absorbing compound which absorbs ultraviolet light at a wavelength for which the first compound is deficient at absorbing. In particular embodiments, the second ultraviolet light absorbing compound may comprise a hydroxyphenyl-s-triazine, hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole, formamidine, benzoxazinone, or benzophenone compound. In a specific embodiment of the invention, the above UV absorbing compounds are employed in cellulose acetate film for the fabrication of a protective film for polarizers for use in display applications.

Polymer film, coating, and molded article elements for use in a display device are described which comprise a polymer phase having molecularly dispersed therein an acid scavenger compound, a hindered amine light stabilizer compound and a hindered phenol antioxidant compound, wherein the hindered amine light stabilizer compound and the hindered phenol antioxidant compound are present at a weight ratio of from 20:1 to 1:20, and the weight ratio of the acid scavenger compound to the total concentration of hindered amine light stabilizer compound and hindered phenol antioxidant compound is from 10:1 to 1:10. Use of a combination of an acid scavenger and a combination of two radical scavenger antioxidants dispersed in a polymer phase in accordance with the invention enables enhanced stabilization of the polymer when exposed to high heat and/or humidity condition, which has been found to be especially desirable when applied to polymer layers laminated into displays (e.g., polarizers in liquid crystal displays).
