Various aspects of the present invention are directed towards apparatuses, systems, and methods that may include a tissue ablation system. The tissue ablation system may include a plurality of ablation devices, each ablation device being configured to provide ablation energy, at least one ablation generator configured to provide ablation power to at least one of the plurality of ablation devices, and a controller configured to cause each of the plurality of ablation devices to selectively receive ablation power and configured to cycle through activation of a plurality of ablation states.

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that may include a microwave ablation probe. The microwave ablation probe may include a feedline having an inner conductor, an outer conductor and a dielectric; and an antenna including a helical arm, the helical arm being electrically connected to the outer conductor of the feedline at a junction point, and a linear arm, the linear arm being electrically connected to the inner conductor of the feedline.

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guided surgical system is provided that includes one or more surgical tools having components configured to develop reactive effects when exposed to MR signals generated by the MRI system. The system includes a control system that can determine whether the MR system is generating MR signals, and if the control system determines that the MR system is generating MR signals, mitigates the reactive effects of MR signals on components of the surgical tools. The system can include a cryoablation system with a cryoprobe having a probe shaft being made of a metallic material. If the control system determines that the MR system is generating MR signals, the control system can electrically disconnect the cryoprobe and/or ignore electrical signals generated by the electric heater in response to exposure to MR signals, and/or initiate a cooling operation of the probe shaft, whereby the cooling operation.

Cryoablation system with magnetic resonance imaging detection

A cryoprobe is disclosed comprising a probe shaft made of a low magnetic susceptibility material and an electrical resistance heater comprising counter-wound helical coils located within the probe shaft. The counter-wound helical coils are formed by a single wire counter-wound to form a first set of coils wound in a direction counter to a second set of coils, such that when current is supplied to the electrical resistance heater, a first magnetic field generated by the first set of coils is opposite to a second magnetic field generated by the second set of coils. The electrical resistance heater can heat, thaw, and/or cauterize tissue. The electrical resistance heater can be made of a low magnetic susceptibility material so as to resistively heat tissue concurrently during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A method of electrically heating a tissue in conjunction with MRI, and a method of imaging a cryoprobe using MRI is also disclosed.

Scientific and medical system circuitry for diagnosis of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) lead conductor anomalies, in particular conductor migration and externalization within an ICD implantable cardiac lead. The system determines an 'imaginary' component of the high frequency transmission line impedance having certain spectral changes that correspond to radially outward movements or local externalization of a conductor within a lead body allowing for the detection of conductor migration and small insulation failures.

An interface device for facilitating transfer of medical information between a patient implantable medical device (PIMD) and a remote network server via public network infrastructure is disclosed, the interface device using any of a plurality of generic network access devices having disparate communication protocols. First communication circuitry is configured to receive medical information from a patient implantable medical device (PIMD), and second communication circuitry configured to effect communication with the first communication circuitry and a generic network access device. A processor is coupled the first communication circuitry and the second communication circuitry. The processor is configured to control transmission of the medical information to the generic network access device and condition the medical device data in compliance with a predetermined medical information regulatory standard governing the PIMD. Various embodiments concern a method which may include communicating medical information between a PIMD and an interface module via a first channel in compliance with a predetermined medical information regulatory standard, preventing access to the PIMD via the interface module other than through the first channel, detecting a communication protocol used by an available generic network access device, selecting a communication protocol rule set from a plurality of communication protocol rule sets to effect communication between the interface device and an available generic network access device of a plurality of generic network access devices, and transferring at least some of the medical information to the remote network via a second channel established between the interface module and the available generic network access device using the selected communication protocol rule set.

An implantable medical device can include an implantable antenna for communication with external devices or other internal devices. Changes in the patient's body position, weight, composition or other factors may change the efficiency of the implantable antenna and hinder communication. The disclosed circuit can calculate a value for a matching network for an implantable telemetry circuit to decrease an impedance difference between the implantable telemetry circuit and the implantable antenna or increase or maximize a communication power transfer value associated with the implantable medical device.

Changes in the patient's body position, weight, composition or other factors may change the antenna efficiency and hinder communication. The disclosed circuit may automatically adjust a matching network for an implanted transceiver to dynamically maximize transmission and reception by controlling the selected value of a plurality of capacitors, inductors and resistors.
