A method and apparatus for tapping into a pressurized multiple strings of coaxially situated tubulars for wells and/or platforms which have overturned wherein the tapping occurs underwater via a diver or remotely operated vehicle. The assembly includes a tapping tool connectable to the tubular via a saddle connection and an adjustable tapping clamp with adjustable support/locking feet, compression plate with view ports, and angularly adjustable hot tapping system, along with a drill/saw system.

Method and apparatus of hot tapping multiple coaxial or nested strings of underwater piping and/or tubing for overturned wells or platforms

A system includes a drill bit, and a tubular connected thereto. The tubular is configured to be rotated to rotate the drill bit and drill a length of a borehole and cemented in place. The tubular and the drill bit form a conduit to permit cement to be pumped through the tubular and the drill bit and into an annulus. The system also includes a collar disposed between the tubular and the drill bit. The collar includes a receptacle made from a drillable material, which has a profile that corresponds to a shape of a component deployed through the length of the tubular, and is configured to form a substantially fluid tight seal between the component and the drillable material when the component is seated in the receptacle. The collar and the component prevent backflow of the cement.

A power tong positioning apparatus having a base section and a backup elevating section engaging the base section. A first lift assembly is positioned between the base section and the backup elevating section while a tong elevating section engages the backup elevating section. A second lift assembly is then positioned between the backup elevating section and the tong elevating section.

The present invention provides a tubular make/break tool having a body section and a center weldment positioned within the body section. There are at least two linear actuators in opposed orientation disposed in the body section and the linear actuators are connected to the center weldment in a manner to impart torque thereto.

Blow-out preventor make/break tool

An improved die insert for gripping oil field tubular members in tubular handling systems such as power tongs, slips, safety clamps and the like. The die insert has a gripping surface which comprises a backing surface adapted to contact the tubular member. The backing surface may be smooth or it may have a series of teeth formed thereon. The backing surface further has a granulated particle coating applied thereto which forms the gripping surface of the present invention. In a preferred embodiment, the gripping surface will include a refractory metal carbide selected from the group consisting of the carbides of silicon, tungsten, molybdenum, chromium, tantalum, niobium, vanadium, titanium, zirconium, and boron.

A method for constructing a power tong jaw, including the steps of: (1) providing a substantially flat upper plate and a substantially flat lower plate; (2) providing at least two separately formed substantially elongated column members, at least one of the column members having a die insert groove formed therein; and (3) connecting the upper plate to the lower plate using the column members.
