There are provided fiber optic local convergence points ('LCPs') adapted for use with multiple dwelling units (“MDUs”) that facilitate relatively easy installation and/or optical connectivity to a relatively large number of subscribers. The LCP includes a housing mounted to a surface, such as a wall, and a cable assembly with a connector end to be optically connected to a distribution cable and a splitter end to be located within the housing. The splitter end includes at least one splitter and a plurality of subscriber receptacles to which subscriber cables may be optically connected. The splitter end of the cable assembly of the LCP may also include a splice tray assembly and/or a fiber optic routing guide. Furthermore, a fiber distribution terminal (“FDT”) may be provided along the subscriber cable to facilitate installation of the fiber optic network within the MDU.

Fiber optic local convergence points for multiple dwelling units

There are provided fiber optic local convergence points ('LCPs') adapted for use with multiple dwelling units ('MDUs') that facilitate relatively easy installation and/or optical connectivity to a relatively large number of subscribers. The LCP includes a housing mounted to a surface, such as a wall, and a cable assembly with a connector end to be optically connected to a distribution cable and a splitter end to be located within the housing. The splitter end includes at least one splitter and a plurality of subscriber receptacles to which subscriber cables may be optically connected. The splitter end of the cable assembly of the LCP may also include a splice tray assembly and/or a fiber optic routing guide. Furthermore, a fiber distribution terminal (&#x201c;FDT&#x201d;) may be provided along the subscriber cable to facilitate installation of the fiber optic network within the MDU.

Transformable cable reels, related assemblies and methods are disclosed. The transformable cable reels may be provided in a first reel configuration for spooling on cable to the transformable cable reel and to pay out the spooled cable from the transformable cable reel. Cable spooled on the transformable cable reel may be payed out during cable installations. The transformable cable reel may also be configured in a second reel configuration for storage of any excess cable after cable payout. As one non-limiting example, the volume of the cable reel may be less in the second reel configuration than in the first reel configuration so that less volume is required to store the transformable cable reel. Providing the transformable cable reel in the second reel configuration may make it more feasible to store the transformable cable reel in fiber optic equipment, and/or avoid storing excess cable removed from a cable reel.

Transformable cable reels and related assemblies and methods

A splitter module holding system and fiber distribution hub cabinet and related method are provided. The splitter module holding system is configured to add additional splitter modules to a fiber distribution hub cabinet that includes preinstalled optical fiber splitter modules. The splitter module holding system is configured to receive at least four splitter modules and to support the at least four splitter modules from a surface within a fiber distribution hub cabinet that is distinct and separate from the position and location of the preinstalled optical fiber splitter modules.

A local convergence point for a fiber optic network is disclosed. The local convergence panel has an enclosure with an interior. An adapter panel separates the interior into a first section and a second section. An interior panel removably mounts in the interior in at least one of the first section and the second section. At least one optical component removably mounts to the interior panel. The optical component may be a splitter module, a splice holder, a routing guide, furcation devices, a ribbon fan-out body, a wave division multiplexer and/or a coarse wave division multiplexer.

Local convergence point for multiple dwelling unit fiber optic distribution network

A fiber optic module having a module housing and a module sub-assembly. The module housing defines at least an interior space, at least one adapter aperture and at least one input aperture. The module sub-assembly defines at least one fiber optic cable, for example, passing through the at least one input aperture, at least one multi-fiber connector on an end of the fiber optic cable, and at least one single fiber connector on an opposite end of the fiber optic cable, the multi-fiber connector being in optical communication with the at least one single fiber connector, the multi-fiber connector capable of flexing on the at least one fiber optic cable relative to the module housing.

Fiber optic module for limited space applications having a partially sealed module sub-assembly

Patch panel assemblies () that contain patch panel modules () for use in optical fiber telecommunication systems are disclosed. One of the patch panel assemblies includes a front mounting frame (F) and at least one internal mounting frame (I) that support a plurality of patch panel modules. The patch panel assembly also includes a hinge assembly () configured allow bend-insensitive fiber cables () to be routed therethrough. One of the patch panel assemblies includes a housing () with a drawer () that supports a plurality of patch panel modules. The patch panel modules employ bend-insensitive optical fibers (C) to connect front and rear ports () so that the patch panels have a reduced size as compared to conventional patch panel modules. The patch panel assemblies include a cable distribution box () that can store excess cable and that assists in routing bend-insensitive fiber optic cables within the patch panel assembly interior () in order to connect to select patch panel module jacks ().

High-density patch-panel assemblies for optical fiber telecommunications

A fiber optic cable assembly including a fiber optic cable and a furcation body is disclosed. An attachment feature can be provided to mount the furcation body to a mounting surface of fiber optic equipment for securing a portion of the fiber optic cable assembly to the fiber optic equipment. The attachment feature may include an integrated anti-rotation feature to inhibit rotation of the furcation body with respect to a mounting surface. The anti-rotation feature is provided by one or more generally planar surfaces of the furcation body for abutting with at least one complementary planar mounting surface.

A clip for securing one or more fiber optic cable assemblies having respective furcation bodies is disclosed along with related assemblies. The clip includes one or more attachment features disposed on a bottom surface for mounting the clip. The bottom surface of the clip provides an anti-rotation feature for the clip and the fiber optic cable assembly by abutting with the complementary mounting surface. In one embodiment, the clip has a cover that attaches to a portion of the clip for securing a portion of the furcation plug within a cavity of the clip.

A cable routing guide attached to a fiber optic apparatus, such as a module positioned on a fiber optic equipment tray is disclosed. The cable routing guide is adapted to receive a length of at least one fiber optic cable intended to be connected to a cable connection point, such as a fiber optic adapter disposed on the module. The cable routing guide allows the at least one fiber optic cable to move in response to the fiber optic equipment tray or the module moving between a first position and a second position in a manner such that the length of the at least one fiber optic cable from the cable routing guide to the fiber optic adapter remains substantially unchanged. Moreover, the at least one fiber optic cable that is received by the cable routing guide may be retained and maintained by the cable routing guide without being tensed or stressed. In this manner, the at least one fiber optic cable that is routed to and through the fiber optic apparatus may not be affected by the movement of the module frame, the module, and/or the adapter between the first and second positions.

A connector housing for use with a communication network and management system thereof includes a housing having a plurality of berths each configured to receive an optical connector adapter unit. A housing electrical connector is associated with each berth and faces the front of the housing to engage an adapter unit electrical connector as the adapter unit is inserted into the berth. Guide elements guide and align the housing electrical connectors with the adapter unit connectors as the adapter units are inserted into the berth to allow blind mating of the housing electrical connectors and the adapter unit connectors. Electrical contacts from at least two housing electrical connectors are consolidated into a cable connector positioned adjacent the back of the housing.

An optical fiber distribution enclosure includes a housing defining an interior, a first fiber distribution area disposed within an upper portion of the interior, a second fiber distribution area disposed within a lower portion of the interior and a signal splitting area disposed between the fiber distribution areas. A splitter module secured within the signal splitting area has a connectorized splitter input optical fiber and connectorized splitter output optical fibers. A fiber parking area is movably disposed within the lower portion adjacent the second fiber distribution area for temporarily storing splitter output optical fibers that are not routed to the fiber distribution areas. An input fiber distribution area disposed within the interior interconnects an optical fiber of a feeder cable with the splitter input optical fiber. The splitter output optical fibers are eventually routed to a fiber distribution area and interconnected with a corresponding optical fiber of a distribution cable.
