A method of manufacturing a compound object, such as an antenna, is disclosed. The method includes creating, via additive manufacturing, a first component formed at least in part of an oxidizing metal; applying, via vapor deposition, a solderable coating to at least a portion of the first component; and soldering at least a portion of the first component to a second component by applying a solder to the solderable coating of the first component. The oxidizing metal may be a titanium alloy, such as Ti-6Al-4V. The solderable coating may include copper and/or tin-lead.

An exploding foil initiator assembly is provided comprising a first layer of dielectric material, a second layer of dielectric material, a third layer of dielectric material, and a flyer. The first layer of dielectric material comprises a first pair of vias. The second layer of dielectric material comprises a first surface adjacent to the first layer of dielectric material, a second surface opposed to the first surface, a second pair of vias, and a bridge. Each of the second pair of vias extends from the first surface to the second surface and is in contact with one of the first pair of vias. The bridge is positioned on the second surface and is electrically connected to the second pair of vias. The third layer of dielectric material is positioned on the second surface of the second layer and comprises a bore positioned at least partially over the bridge forming a barrel. The flyer is positioned in the barrel on the bridge.

A method for forming a monolithic seal frame and lid for use with a substrate and electronic circuitry comprises the steps of forming a mandrel from a ceramic and glass based material, forming a seal frame and lid block from a ceramic and glass based material, creating a seal frame and lid by forming a compartment and a plurality of sidewalls in the seal frame and lid block, placing the seal frame and lid on the mandrel such that the mandrel fits within the compartment, and cofiring the seal frame and lid block.

A system for the fabrication of dome shaped low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) substrates comprises a plurality of prefired substrates, a first mandrel, and a second mandrel. The prefired substrates may form a stack and each may include a circular central portion and a plurality of segments uniformly distributed along the circumference of the central portion. Each segment may include a first edge, an opposing second edge, and an end edge. The first and second edges each may have an inner end and an opposing outer end. The end edge may be coupled to the outer end of the first and second edges. The first mandrel may have a first circumference and may be configured to receive the prefired substrates while the stack is formed. The second mandrel may have a second circumference smaller than the first circumference and may be configured to retain the stack during a firing process.
