The present invention is in the field of booster stage circuit for a power amplifier, and an external supply voltage power amplifier comprising said booster stage circuit, such as for amplifying an electronic signal to a speaker system. These amplifiers may be provided with an external supply voltage.

The present invention is related to a sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It further relates to a method for designing and manufacturing a sigma-delta ADC, and to a digital control loop comprising the same. According to the present invention, part of the filtering function required for noise-shaping is implemented in the feedback path. By suitably distributing the poles over the forward and feedback paths, stable operation can be achieved while offering low latency.

Sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter

A data converter comprises a discrete-time sigma delta modulator e.g. for driving a Class-D power amplifier. The low-pass filter of the sigma delta modulator is modified by adding a suitably positioned pole to lower the oscillation frequency (limit cycle) of the sigma delta modulator in order to obtain increased clustering of the pulses applied to the output of the data converter.
