There is provided a device for hair care having a housing with at least one aperture, one or more ion generators for selectively generating concentrations of ions having different combinations of intensity and polarity, and one or more ion emitters for selectively emitting concentrations of ions having different combinations of intensity and polarity. The device can be any device or combination of such devices, suitable for use with hair and for to optimize the known beneficial effects of ionization to hair of the user.

A hairdryer air intake is cleansed of dust particles with an electrostatic precipitator. The precipitator consists of a charging device () and a grounded filter media () that can be removed and cleaned. A warning lamp () indicates the need to clean the filter.

There is provided a hair setting assembly having a split top lid for improving heat conservation. The assembly also has a tilt adjustable housing that holds a set of hair rollers and encloses an electrical means for heating the rollers.

The present invention is a roller comprising a roller body including a bore therein and a slot communicating between an exterior surface portion of the roller body and the bore. A hook tape is wrapped around the roller body and includes a first tape end and a second tape end. The first tape end and the second tape end extend into the bore through the slot. A key (e.g., a roller core) positioned in either the bore or the slot for clamping the first tape end and the second tape end to thereby prevent removal of the hook tape from the roller body. Alternatively, the roller body may include at least one pin extending from an exterior surface of the roller body. The hook tape is wrapped around the roller body, with the first tape end and the second tape end being secured to the pin to prevent removal of the hook tape from the roller body.

A hair styler for controlling the flow of air emitted from a hair blower, which comprises a coupler for attachment to the hair blower and having an internal chamber with a central axis and a plurality of vents, the hair styler having deflectors in the form of a plurality of canted vanes disposed in a turbinate arrangement exterior of the vents and about the central axis of the internal chamber, for deflecting air that exits the vents into plural flow paths which are approximately transverse to and about the central axis of the central chamber and which manifest different angular direction about the central axis.

A hair dryer includes an air inlet, an air outlet and a primary air passage between the inlet and outlet. The hair dryer employs a housing having side walls and a cord reel positioned in the housing, between the side walls and across the primary air passage between the air inlet and the air outlet. The hair dryer includes at least one vent formed in a side wall of the housing, the vent located between the cord reel and the air outlet and effective to provide a secondary air source for the primary air passage, even when the cord is wound on the cord reel.

An attachment for a hair dryer includes an upper body for supporting a heat transmissive plate with a comb extending from one side of the heat transmissive plate and a lower body for attachment to an outlet of the hair dryer. The heat transmissive plate is heated by the hot air exiting the hair dryer's outlet. The upper body of the attachment includes vents positioned about the heat transmissive plate for directing heated air generally in front of and behind the heat transmissive plate, and a pair of side vents for directing heated air to the sides of the heat transmissive plate. The lower body of the attachment may include a plurality of inner ribs positioned at its internal surface or a plurality of flexible inner segments situated within the internal surface, either of which serve to attach the lower body to the hair dryer outlet. The hair dryer attachment thus provides a simple means for using a hair dryer to dry and straighten one's hair.

A moldable central body for use in a catalytic burner has a generally rotational symmetry about a longitudinal axis. It provides a cover retaining surface for the cover of the unit; furnishes the bayonet pin for receiving the cover; carries spacers positioning itself within the outer casing; holds the wave member in position; holds the stem support in position, which, in turn, holds the valve seat; provides a pivot hole for the spoon pivot for a curling iron; is a seat and shoulder for the diaphragm; provides an inner surface to hold alignment members for the control stem; holds the seat for the spring for the control stem; and provides a barrel retaining surface for a curling iron barrel. The control stem of a regulation element moves axially within the central body. The central body can be molded of plastic as a single integral piece. Since this central body serves so many functions and, yet, can be molded as a single integral piece, it reduces the cost of manufacture of the burner of this invention.

A butane burner for personal care appliances includes a receptacle at one end for a gas canister. Upon insertion of a canister, a probe presses against the canister valve, opening it; and it thereafter remains open. Gas then flows to the input end of the control stem and, depending upon the longitudinal positioning of the control stem, flows into the stem through a gas inlet orifice in one side of the stem and travels in a channel within the stem to an outlet orifice at the other end. There it enters a Venturi, is mixed with air, passes from there through a mixing chamber and to a burning chamber within the barrel of the curling iron. The catalytic burner is located in the burning chamber. The control stem is spring-pressed in a direction to keep the gas inlet orifice normally in the open position. Movement of the control stem a slight distance in a direction away from the canister and toward the Venturi blocks the gas inlet orifice and stops gas flow. This movement can be caused by movement of a shut-off cam, or by the action of a pressure regulator.

A reservoir unit for use in a hairsetter which has upwardly-extending heating posts. The reservoir unit has a cup to hold water, the cup having a base and sides and being open at the top, and the base having an upwardly-extending heating post recess therein. The recess has a shape complementary to that of the heating posts, so that the reservoir unit may be filled with water and placed upon one of the heating posts to heat the water and so moisten hair rollers mounted on others of the posts. The reservoir may have an upwardly-extending handle for use in placing it upon and removing it from the heating post.

A heatable hair brush capable of being utilized for either curling or straightening hair as desired. The hair brush is also capable of being molded with integral bristles in a relatively simple two-part mold. The hair brush has a hairwinding portion provided with a plurality of longitudinally spaced bristles arranged in a pair of diametrically opposed sets of parallel bristle rows, the central row of each set being radially extended and the rows on either side of the central row being parallel thereto.

A shock hazard protector for protecting small appliances from the presence of water. The shock hazard protector utilizes a fusible wire link mechanically connecting two opposing resilient electrical contacts. A triac is connected to a sensor circuit and, upon the occurrence of water in predetermined parts of the appliance, the triac fires and causes a current to be passed through the fusible link to melt the link, release the resilient electrical contacts and open both power line simultaneously.

A hair appliance has a hair winding portion extending axially from the end of a handle covered by a flexible sleeve member adapted to be depressed in order to activate a movable part of the hair appliance. The hair appliance is of relatively uniform cross-section along its length and in the case of a curling iron provided with a hair retaining clip biased adjacent the barrel of the curling iron, the clip is provided with a longitudinal extension aligned with the body of the clip, with the extension overlying a recess in the handle and under the flexible sleeve member. The clip is opened by squeezing or depressing the flexible sleeve member to move the extension into the recess. In the case of a curling brush having a rotatable barrel, a similar construction results in the barrel locking mechanism being situated under the flexible sleeve member so that depression of the latter operates the locking mechanism. In the case of heatable appliances, an annularly visible indicating means is provided at the distal end thereof to indicate the power condition of the appliance.
