Plates for patella fracture reduction and fracture reduction devices are described. More particularly plates and devices for patella reduction that are universally fit to a front surface or perimeter of a patella and include a plurality of attachment holes disposed therein for receiving a fastener. In some embodiments, the plates include removable tab members.

Patella fracture reduction plates

An intramedullary device, having a first longitudinal axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end thereof, is provided. The intramedullary device may include a first bore and a second bore. The first bore may include a second longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between a first opening and a second opening. The second longitudinal axis may define a first angle (&#x3b8;1) with the first longitudinal axis. The second bore may include a third longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between the first opening and a third opening. The third longitudinal axis may define a second angle (&#x3b8;2) with the first longitudinal axis.

An intramedullary device, having a first longitudinal axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end thereof, is provided. The intramedullary device may include a first bore and a second bore. The first bore may include a second longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between a first opening and a second opening. The second longitudinal axis may define a first angle (&#x3b8;) with the first longitudinal axis. The second bore may include a third longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between the first opening and a third opening. The third longitudinal axis may define a second angle (&#x3b8;) with the first longitudinal axis.

An intramedullary nail comprises longitudinal channel, a first transverse passage and a second transverse passage. A lag screw extends through the first transverse passage of the intramedullary nail. An anti-rotation shaft extends through the second transverse passage of the intramedullary nail. A cannulated lag screw lock is positioned in the intramedullary shaft and engages the lag screw. The anti-rotation shaft extends through a cross channel in the lag screw lock. A second shaft lock is positioned in the intramedullary nail with the second shaft lock engaging the anti-rotation shaft. In at least one embodiment, the lag screw lock includes a substantially cylindrical body portion rotatably connected to a threaded head portion. In at least one embodiment, the second shaft lock is provided as an end cap including a threaded upper portion and a lower post portion that extends into the lag screw lock.

Intramedullary nail with locking key

An instrument system is provided for positioning an internal fixation prosthesis and guiding a cannulated bone drill during a surgical, radioscopic procedure for the repair of a fractured bone of a patient. The instrument system includes a target wire, a handle formed from a radio translucent material having a target hole for guided passage of the target wire along a target axis. The target axis coincides with the intersection of a first plane and a second plane orthogonal to the first plane. The instrument system also includes a nose component attached to an end of the handle and removably connectable to the prosthesis. The nose component includes an alignment sight formed from a radio-opaque material.

Targeting jig for hip fracture nail system

The nose component includes an alignment sight formed from a radio-opaque material. When the prosthesis is connected to the nose component and the target wire is positioned through the target hole along the target axis, the image of the guide wire may be radioscopically viewed along a first line of sight contained in the first plane to bisect the image of the alignment device, thereby providing a first visual reference to the user for directing the first guide wire into the desired portion of the bone while holding the prosthesis in a desired position relative to the bone.

Method for implanting a hip fracture nail system

A hip screw assembly for fixation of a fractured femur is provided. The hip screw assembly includes a screw for engagement with the femur. The hip screw assembly also includes a barrel defining a cavity in the barrel. The barrel is fixedly secured to the plate. The screw including a portion thereof fitted in the cavity of the barrel. The hip screw assembly also includes a stop positionable in the barrel. The stop provides a limit on the movement of said screw in said barrel. The screw and the barrel have a first arrangement between each other in which the screw slides in the cavity of said barrel a first selectable predetermined distance and a second arrangement in which the screw slides a second selectable predetermined distance. The second distance is greater than the first distance.
