The subject disclosure is directed towards providing a user with impact-related information regarding the impact of a monitored event (for a detected resource issue) to a managed system, such as a storage system. An event is generated when a resource such as a hard disk has an issue, e.g., has failed. Information from the event is automatically extracted and used to communicate with a management program coupled to the resource. Communication with the management program obtains information as to the impact the resource issue has to the system, e.g., what servers and/or applications are impacted. The impact-related data may be presented in a report to a user.

Monitored system event processing and impact correlation

A method of searching shared files stored on a shared storage includes providing a search functionality in the shared storage having a set of search indexes to perform a search based on a search term; providing an event stream of update events associated with the shared files in the shared storage; processing the event stream to generate a processed event stream; and responding to update events in the processed event stream by indexing files referenced in the update events in the processed event stream where the indexing is performed to maintain a predetermined level of quality of service at the shared storage.

A first identification marker is scanned by a mobile computing device. A location of the first identification marker in the data center based on a virtual representation of the data center is determined by the mobile computing device. An identity of the target IT component is received. A location of the rack containing the target IT component in the data center based on the virtual representation of the data center is determined by the mobile computing device. A map of the data center, wherein the map of the data center includes first indicia of the location of the first identification marker and second indicia of the location of the rack containing the target IT component, is displayed by the mobile computing device.

Data center management using virtualized data center inventory

A method of searching shared files stored on a general purpose shared storage includes receiving a search term in a native search interface of an operating system on a computing device; and performing, on the computing device, a search based on the search term including accessing a search functionality of the general purpose shared storage, wherein the search functionality uses indexes of the shared files stored on the shared storage and updates the indexes of the shared files in response to update events generated from the shared files. In one embodiment, the method performs a federated search based on the search term.

First position data indicating a position of the first IT component in the data center is received. An identity of the second IT component is determined. Relative position data indicating a position of the second IT component relative to the first position data is received. Second position data indicating a position of the second IT component in the data center is determined. The associated identity of the second IT component and the second position data is stored as a second part of the virtual representation of the data center.

Authoring a virtualized data center

There is disclosed a technique for use in processing vectorized elements on a mobile computing device. A vector list is received, wherein the list comprises a set of vectors having positional and magnitude values associated with identified markers. A first test angle and stride size is determined. Vectors falling within a boundary defined by the first test angle and first stride size are analyzed and a likelihood the vectors form a line is determined. An increment size is adjusted if a positive determination result occurs. Vectors that intersect with a line are identified, wherein the vectors include vectors determined to fall with the boundary defined by the first test angle and first stride size. Based on a first policy, vectors that intersect the line are identified. A report including anchor information associated with the identified vectors is created.

Processing vectorized elements associated with IT system images

There is disclosed a technique executed on a mobile computing device for use in analyzing image data. A heatmap is received, wherein the map comprises data representing a single channel image. A plurality of cache levels are built, wherein each cache level comprises a plurality of zones comprising pixel data, wherein each successive cache level comprises a successively lower resolution and corresponding increase in the number of zones. At each cache level, pixel data is analyzed in each zone beginning with the cache level having the lowest resolution and recursively analyzing each successive cache level. The zone is disabled from further analysis if the zone analysis determines the zone to be empty. The zone is marked for further analysis if the zone analysis determines the zone to be full. Edges associated with pixels in the zone are detected. A vector associated with a marker is created, wherein a vector includes positional and magnitude information and the vector is added to a list of vectors.

Processing image data associated with IT system components

Described are methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products for locating one or more markers associated with IT equipment. An image of a scene including the one or more markers is acquired by a mobile computing device. A band-pass filter is applied by the mobile computing device to first pixel data associated with a first pixel in the image to generate a first band-pass filter result, wherein a pass-band of the band-pass filter is based on the light emitted by the one or more markers. A first pixel score is determined by the mobile computing device based on at least the first band-pass filter result. First indicia of the first pixel score is stored by the mobile computing device in a map at a first map location corresponding to a first image location of the first pixel in the image.
