An integrated circuit device includes an insulating body provided with a number of electrically conductive leads and having a surface provided with a red LED aperture, an IR LED aperture and a photodetector aperture. The insulating body also includes an optical isolator optically separating the photodetector aperture from the red LED aperture and the IR LED aperture. A red LED is aligned with the red LED aperture, an IR LED is aligned with the IR LED aperture, and a photodetector is aligned with the photodetector aperture.

Heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring system

A system includes a sensor device configured to detect a touch pressure dependent characteristic of a body part of a user while the user touches a touch surface with the body part. The system also includes an image capture device configured to capture an image of the body part of the user while the user touches the touch surface. The system further includes a processor configured to associate the image with an amount of pressure exerted on the touch surface by the user. The processor is also configured to compare the amount of pressure exerted on the touch surface to a desired amount of pressure associated with the user for the sensor device, and initiate compensation for the touch pressure dependent characteristic based upon the comparison.

Detecting pressure exerted on a touch surface and providing feedback

Techniques are described to furnish a touchless joystick-type controller in a portable electronic device. The techniques may be implemented within an electronic device that comprises one or more sensors configured to detect a target at a distance from the sensor and provide a signal in response thereto. The signal is received in response to the sensor detecting a target within a field of view of the sensor. A position of the target relative to a point of reference is then determined based on the signal. Movement of the target may be tracked based on changes in the determined position relative to the point of reference. In embodiments, the target comprises a thumb or a finger of a hand of a user of the electronic device and the determined position to furnish a joystick-type control input.

Integrated touchless joystick-type controller

Techniques in accordance with the present disclosure allow the detection of hover events and/or touch events performed over the touch panel without requiring that the touch panel be equipped with additional hardware and/or materials. In one or more implementations, the apparatus includes a touch panel controller configured to operatively couple to a touch panel sensor. The touch panel sensor includes at least one drive electrode and at least one sense electrode. The touch panel controller includes output circuitry operatively coupled to the at least one drive electrode. The output circuitry is configured to generate drive signals to drive the drive electrode (i.e., drive the touch panel sensor). The touch panel controller also includes input circuitry operatively coupled to the at least one sense electrode. The input circuitry is configured to measure mutual-capacitance between the at least drive electrode and the at least one sense electrode to detect a hover event. The present disclosure is directed to driving a subset of rows (or columns) and senses the subset of the remaining rows (or columns). Thus, the same sensor can measure multi-touch event and hover without changes to sensor pattern.
