A low profile acoustic module is described. Embodiments include a headset acoustic module having first and second chambers. The first chamber has a side wall and first portion of a back wall, and defining a first volume. The side wall defines an opening sized to retain a speaker, and the first chamber defines a first volume. The second chamber is adjacent the first chamber, and comprises an inner wall, a front wall, and a second portion of the back wall, and defining a second volume greater than the first volume. The second volume is fluidly coupled to the first volume via a first set of vents on the inner wall, the second volume is fluidly coupled to an ambient atmosphere via a second set of vents, and the inner wall comprises at least a portion of the side wall.

Low profile acoustic module

The present disclosure generally provides an apparatus and method of controlling an audible signal generated by an audio device to improve the sound quality of the generated audible signal and/or sound quality perceived by a user. In some embodiments, the audio device is able to improve the sound quality generated by the audio device that is generating audible sound based on any type of audio signal. The processes described herein allow the audible signal processor to determine the acoustic fingerprint of the environment in which the audio device is positioned, and thus by use of the method steps disclosed herein to optimize the sound quality in one or more frequency bands of a generated audible signal in real time based on the determined acoustic fingerprint.

Embodiments of the disclosure generally include a method and apparatus for receiving and separating unwanted external noise from an audible input received from an audible source using an audible signal processing system that contains a plurality of audible signal sensing devices that are arranged and configured to detect an audible signal that is received from any position or angle within three dimensional space. The audible signal processing system is configured to analyze the received audible signals using a first signal processing technique that is able to separate unwanted low frequency range noise from the received audible signal and a second signal processing technique that is able to separate unwanted higher frequency range noise from the received audible signal. The audible signal processing system can then combine the signals processed by the first and second signal processing techniques to form a desired audible signal that has a high signal-to-noise ratio throughout the full speech range.

A latching apparatus controls the motion of a first member relative to a second member. The first member is reciprocally moveable relative to the second member in forward and reverse directions along the line of motion. The second member carries a latch which is movable within a plane parallel to the line of motion. The latch has a first pawl and a second pawl. The second member carries a pivot for carrying the latch so that the latch is rotatable relative to the second member about the pivot which is orthogonal to the line of motion. The latch is shiftable between first and second positions relative to the pivot. The first member bears a plurality of engagement features linearly arrayed along the line of motion. Each engagement feature has a generally forward facing first face and a generally rearward facing second face. When the latch is in the first position, it is biased for its first pawl to engage the engagement features. When the latch is in the second position it is biased for its second pawl to engage the engagement features.
