An electrical contact includes a body extending along a longitudinal axis. The body includes a mating contact portion for electrical connection with an electronic module, an intermediate portion extending from the mating contact portion, and a mounting contact portion extending from the intermediate portion for electrical connection with a circuit board. The mounting contact portion extends from the intermediate portion at a bend. The mounting contact portion extends from the bend to an end portion. The body also includes a push surface formed when a carrier strip that initially connects the electrical contact to other electrical contacts is separated from the electrical contact. The push surface is offset from the bend along the longitudinal axis in a direction away from the mating contact portion.

Electrical connector for electronic modules

A receptacle connector includes a housing and a receptacle contact. The housing includes a cavity extending through the housing from the mating side to the mounting side. The receptacle contact is disposed within the cavity and is configured to receive a mating contact of the mating connector. The receptacle contact includes elongated shafts disposed on opposite sides of a longitudinal axis and mating tips coupled to the shafts. The mating tips have tapered shapes between the shafts and outer ends of the mating tips. The tapered shapes are wider than the shafts in a lateral direction that is transverse to the longitudinal axis. The receptacle contact is configured to receive a mating contact of a mating connector between the mating tips to electrically couple the mating connector with the receptacle connector.

A connector assembly includes a housing, a signal contact and a power contact. The housing has a mounting body and a mating body coupled together and separated by a gap. The gap permits air to flow between the lower and mating bodies. The mating body is configured to engage an upper substrate and the mounting body is configured to engage a lower substrate to mechanically interconnect the upper and lower substrates. The signal contact extends between and protrudes from the mating and mounting bodies and is configured to communicate a data signal between the mating and mounting bodies. The power contact extends between and protrudes from the mating and mounting bodies and is configured to communicate electrical power between the upper and lower substrates. The housing separates the upper and lower substrates by a predetermined stack height.

Connector assembly with variable stack heights having power and signal contacts

An electrical connector assembly includes a housing having a slot configured to receive at least a portion of an electronic module therein. The housing includes an anti-stubbing shoulder. An electrical contact is held by the housing. The electrical contact includes a mating contact portion and an anti-stubbing contact portion. At least a portion of the mating contact portion extends within the slot for engagement with the electronic module. Engagement between the anti-stubbing portion of the electrical contact and the anti-stubbing shoulder of the housing moves at least a portion of the mating contact portion of the electrical contact generally away from the slot of the housing.

An electrical connector assembly is provided. The electrical connector assembly includes a housing including a body fabricated at least partially from a dielectric material. The housing body has an opening therein. An electrical contact is held by the housing. The electrical contact includes an intermediate portion and a spring potion each held at least partially within the opening. The spring portion of the electrical contact is engaged by the housing body such that the spring portion is deflected into shorting engagement with the intermediate portion of the electrical contact.

Electrical connector assembly with shorting contacts

A card edge connector including a housing and a pair of extractors is disclosed for electrically connecting a first PCB such as a daughter card to a second PCB such as a motherboard. The extractors both secure and eject the daughter card from the connector. The extractors may be configured to reduce micro-motion of the daughter card by applying a vertical downward force thereto.

DIMM socket positive lock extractor

A connector assembly including a modified contact is disclosed for connecting a first electrical device to a second electrical device. In a first embodiment, the connector assembly includes a tool necessary to press-fit the connector to the second electrical device. In a second embodiment, the connector assembly includes two connectors that mate in such a manner so as to render the modified contact unusable if the two connectors are unmated.

A socket connector for connecting module card to a circuit board includes a housing extending along a longitudinal axis between opposed ends. The housing includes a mounting face configured for mounting on the circuit board and a slot configured to receive a mating edge of the module card. The slot has a bottom surface that defines a seating plane for the mating edge of the module card. An extractor is pivotably connected to at least one of the opposed ends. The extractor includes a foot having a card engagement surface that is relatively higher than the bottom surface when the extractor is in a closed position.

Low profile socket connector

A socket connector for connecting a card edge module to a circuit board includes a housing extending along a longitudinal axis between opposed ends. The housing includes a mounting face configured to be received on the circuit board and a slot configured to receive a mating edge of the card edge module. A latch member is pivotably connected to the housing. The latch member is movable between an open position and a closed position. A locking member is positioned on the latch member and configured to prevent movement of the latch member from the closed position to the open position.

A socket connector includes a housing extending along a longitudinal axis between opposed ends. The housing includes a mounting face configured to be received on the circuit board and a slot configured to receive the mating edge of the card edge module. A latch member is pivotably connected to the housing. The latch member is movable between an open position and a closed position. A biasing member is connected between the housing and the latch member. The biasing member biases the latch member toward the closed position.

A fully buffered memory module is disclosed having a two piece housing comprised of a primary housing portion and an alignment plate. An array of terminals is included having at least two terminal configurations where the terminals are trapped between the primary housing portion and the alignment plate. A printed circuit board tine of the electrical terminals extend through the alignment plate while a contact portion protrudes into a slot which receives the memory module.

Fully buffered press-fit DIMM connector

A socket connector for connecting a card edge module to a circuit board includes a base extending along a longitudinal axis between opposed ends. The base includes a mounting face configured to be received on the circuit board. Support towers are integrally formed with the base and located at the opposed ends of the base. The support towers extend upward from the base away from the mounting face. Each of the base and the towers includes open sided mating surfaces that collectively define a mating plane. The open sided mating surfaces are configured to receive the card edge module from a lateral direction with respect to the mating plane when the card edge module is loaded into the connector. Electrical contacts are held in the base. The contacts have mating ends extending laterally from the open-sided mating surface of the base. The contacts have mounting ends that extend from the mounting face.

High-reliability DIMM connector

An electrical connector includes a housing having a forward mating end and a rearward contact loading end. The housing includes first and second opposite sides. The housing is configured for insertion into a panel opening that has an inner edge. The housing is inserted into the panel opening in a first direction in an insertion position and is movable within the panel opening in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction from the insertion position to a latched position. A latch member extends from the first side of the housing and has first and second ends attached to first and second opposite ends of the first side of the housing. An arcuate latch beam joins the first and second ends of the latch member, and a latch element positioned on a forward facing surface of the latch beam engages the inner edge of the panel opening to hold the housing in the latched position.

Slide-to-latch panel mount connector

A hybrid electrical connector includes both signal and power contacts in the same connector housing. The housing includes a plurality of axially extending passageways for receipt of the signal contacts and a plurality of axially extending cavities for receipt of the power contacts. The connector housing further includes a plurality of transversely extending slots extending through the connector housing intersecting with individual power contact cavities. Moreover, the housing includes a protrusion extending across the lower surface thereof. A Y-shaped terminal retaining member is insertable in the slots and is resiliently held in place in the slots. The power terminals include an opening therethrough forming a locking shoulder for receipt of the transversely extending locking member. In addition, the power terminals include notches for mating with the protrusion. The combination of the notches and the protrusion ensure the terminal is properly positioned within the housing.

Terminal locking mechanism for hybrid electrical connector

A hybrid electrical connector includes both signal and power contacts in the same connector housing. The housing includes a plurality of axially extending passageways for receipt of the signal contacts and a plurality of axially extending cavities for receipt of the power contacts. The connector housing further includes a plurality of transversely extending slots extending through the connector housing intersecting with individual power contact cavities. A Y-shaped terminal retaining member is insertable in the slots and is resiliently held in place in the slots. The power terminals include an opening therethrough forming a locking shoulder for receipt of the transversely extending locking member.
