A fluid ejector for ejecting discrete volumes of ejectant includes a body with opposing first and second surfaces. One or more nozzles are defined as conduits extending through the body between the surfaces to connect first and second orifices at the first and second surfaces respectively. The fluid ejector further includes a gas supply means having a gas outlet and an ejectant supply means. The ejectant supply means supplies the ejectant to the nozzles at a pressure above ambient via their supply orifices. The supply orifice is defined in a conduit's side or is the second orifice. Relative movement of the gas supply means and body exposes first orifices to the gas outlet allowing the gas supply means to supply gas at a pressure above ambient, wherein a pressure difference thereby created between the first and second orifices causes ejection of the ejectant from the nozzles through the second orifices.

Fluid ejector

A device () for loading fluid into nozzle(s) of a nozzle-bearing body () includes a first member (), having a first surface (), and a second member () protruding from the first member (). The second member () has second and third surfaces (), the second surface () extending from the first surface () at an angle. The first surface () substantially complements the shape of the nozzle-bearing body's surface (). The device () has a recess () defined therein at least in part by the first and second surfaces (). When the device () is placed into a working configuration with the nozzle-bearing body (), a tangent to the third surface (), in a region of the third surface () proximate to where the second surface () meets the third surface (), is substantially parallel to a tangent to the first surface (), in a region of the first surface () where the first surface () meets the second surface (), wherein, the recess () forms a pocket for receiving the fluid.

Systems and methods for controlling supply of electrical energy from power source(s) through a plurality of electrical conductors adjacent to a common electrolyte solution are disclosed. The power source(s) are controlled to apply potential difference waveform(s) between pairs of electrical conductors formed from the plurality of electrical conductors such that the potential difference waveform(s) have a magnitude that exceeds a threshold overpotential for the pairs of electrical conductors in the electrolyte solution while sums of an absolute value of a potential difference across a double layer associated with the first electrical conductor in a pair and an absolute value of a potential difference across a double layer associated with a second electrical conductor in the pair is maintained below the threshold overpotential. Some or all electrical conductor(s) can be coupled to the power source(s) using respective capacitor(s).

Method, system, and device for supplying electrical energy through electrical conductors adjacent to electrolyte solution environments

A printhead comprising: a housing having an inlet for the supply of ink; an array of ejection locations for the ejection of ink droplets; an ink supply pathway for the passage of ink from the inlets to the ejection locations, wherein the ink supply pathway comprises at least one divergent ink manifold; and an outlet manifold for receiving ink from the ejection locations.

Electrodes for a drop-on demand printer

An ejection apparatus for ejecting material from a liquid at a plurality of ejection locations () disposed in a row, has a plurality of channels () through each of which liquid flows in use to or from a respective ejection location at an open end of the channel. An ejection electrode () is disposed at each ejection location by means of which an electric field is created in use to cause the ejection of material from the liquid. An electrically conductive path () exists to each ejection electrode for supplying a voltage to the ejection electrode () in use. The channels () are isolated from one another and the electrically conductive paths () are separated from the channels over substantially the whole of their length.
