Systems and method for detecting anomalies in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes receiving a first data stream collected from a first sensor, identifying a first set of anomalies in the first data stream using a first model, receiving a second data stream collected from a second sensor, identifying a second set of anomalies in the second data stream using a second model, determining a set of joint anomalies using the first set of anomalies, second set of anomalies, and a threshold, wherein a threshold is some time period, and updating how anomalies are identified in the first and second set of models using the set of joint anomalies.

Systems and methods for anomaly detection in multi-modal data streams

According to one aspect, a method includes identifying a condition relating to an impact on a vehicle by an object, the vehicle including at least one anchor mechanism, the at least one anchor mechanism configured to anchor the vehicle to a surface. The method also includes determining whether the condition indicates that the anchor mechanism is to be deployed, and deploying the anchor mechanism when it is determined that the condition indicates that the anchor mechanism is to be deployed.

Methods and apparatus for vehicle motion mitigation during impact

A rapid deceleration mechanism for a vehicle is provided herein. The rapid deceleration mechanism decelerates a body of the vehicle traveling on a road surface. The rapid deceleration mechanism includes at least one bollard attached to the body and at least one energetics arrangement. The at least one energetics arrangement propels the at least one bollard from the body toward the road surface to decelerate the body such that at least one of a portion of the body or the at least one bollard is deformed.

Methods and apparatus for rapidly decelerating a vehicle

A sensor assembly includes a first body that rotates a sensor component about an axis, and a second body coupled to the first body to form a separation gap. The separation gap extends radially inward from a gap inlet to a sealed barrier of the second body. The separation gap may be configured with a set of air guide structural features, to induce formation of eddies from air intake received through the gap inlet, as air from the air intake moves inward towards the sealed barrier.

Sensor assembly for vehicles

A rapid deceleration mechanism for a vehicle is provided herein. The rapid deceleration mechanism includes a cutting mechanism configured to be coupled to a body of the vehicle, e.g., via a tether. An actuating mechanism is configured to selectively actuate (e.g., release or propel) the cutting mechanism towards a road surface on which the vehicle is driving to cause the cutting mechanism to cut a channel in the road surface. The channel defines a bollard area in the road surface. At least a portion of the cutting mechanism is disposed at least partially within the channel, against the bollard area, to anchor the body of the vehicle relative to the road surface.

The present disclosure relates to devices, systems, and methods for controlling and/or augmenting acoustic sounds emitted from flight vehicles, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). For example, while in flight, a UAV may emit a characteristic sound or tone (or a plurality of such tones), which may be a result of propeller and/or motor noise. To mitigate such noise from UAVs, disclosed embodiments may include acoustic resonators that may provide additional tones to complement the sounds or tones emitted from the UAV. Namely, the acoustic resonators may be shaped, adjusted, or otherwise controlled to emit additional tones that form pleasing intervals in combination with the characteristic tone(s) from the UAV.

A system for decelerating a vehicle includes a powered driver and an anchor supported by the powered driver. The powered driver configured to be movably coupled to a chassis of the vehicle. The powered driver is also configured to propel the anchor from the powered driver into a road surface to secure the vehicle to the road surface for decelerating the vehicle.

A system for decelerating a vehicle includes a mount and a powered driver configured to propel an anchor toward a road surface to selectively secure the vehicle to the road surface. The mount is configured to couple the powered driver to a chassis of the vehicle.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to filling and lifting high altitude balloons. For instance, one example system for lifting and filling a balloon having a balloon envelope includes an apparatus for use with the balloon envelope. The apparatus includes a load line, a fill tube having a hollow portion nested within the load line and a termination member attached to the fill tube and load line. The load line is configured to lift the balloon envelope during inflation. The fill tube extends through the load line and is configured to allow lift gas to pass through the hollow portion. The termination member is configured to mate with an opening in the balloon envelope so that lift gas can pass through the hollow portion of the fill tube and into the opening in the balloon envelope.

Apparatus to lift and fill a balloon

A lift assembly for use during inflation of a balloon envelope is provided. The lift assembly includes a plate structure that has a set of cavities. Each cavity includes one or more openings passing through the plate. One or more pistons are coupled to the plate through at least one of the openings of each cavity in the set of cavities. Each piston has a hollow tube portion projecting lengthwise from the at least one opening, a flange attached to the hollow tube portion and a grabber portion in communication with the flange. The grabber portion includes a plurality of bearings for grabbing a stud attached to an apex of the balloon envelope. A handle portion is coupled to the plate. The handle is arranged to lift the balloon envelope when the bearings have grabbed a given stud.

Mechanical assembly for lifting a balloon

A method for balloon launching may include loading a pre-packaged balloon and payload into a shell structure. The pre-packaged balloon may be pulled out of its packaging in a vertical direction, for instance using a gantry crane. The gantry crane may be configured to inflate the balloon from the top of the envelope. The balloon may be inflated while substantially within the shell structure, which may provide protection from wind gusts. A vehicle, such as a heavy forklift, may provide mobility and support for the balloon and shell. Once the balloon is inflated, the vehicle may move the balloon/shell combination at a rate and direction substantially matching the current wind direction/speed. Furthermore, after reaching a zero-velocity condition relative to the wind, the vehicle may assist and/or initiate the opening of the shell. A tether connecting the balloon to the shell structure may be disconnected, allowing the balloon to launch.

Methods and mechanisms for balloon launching

An apparatus is provided that includes a solenoid chamber having a plunger configured to create an opening in a first balloon envelope of a balloon system when the solenoid chamber is actuated. The opening enables gas to evacuate from the first balloon envelope. A mixer valve having a nozzle is coupled to the solenoid chamber. The mixer valve is configured to create a gas mixture formed from the gas evacuating from the opening and atmospheric gas. A heating device is attached to the nozzle. The heating device is configured to heat the gas mixture created by the mixer valve. A second balloon envelope is attached to the nozzle. The second balloon envelope is arranged to expand in proportion to a quantity of the heated gas mixture passing through the nozzle. This expansion of the second balloon envelope creates an amount of lift for controlling descent of the balloon system.
