The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a camera () for a motor vehicle (), in which an interface device () for connecting the camera () with a data bus of the motor vehicle () is selected from at least two different interface devices () and is arranged on a circuit board (), the circuit board () is arranged in an interior space () of a front housing (), a rear housing () is manufactured and connected with the front housing (), wherein the rear housing () has a through-opening (), through which the interface device () is passed partly, wherein in manufacture of the rear housing () the through-opening () is formed in dependency on the selected interface device (), wherein an outer contour of the rear housing () is maintained.
