Aspects of the disclosure provide an integrated circuit. The integrated circuit includes an ADC with a continuous time integrator. The continuous time integrator includes an amplifier having an amplifier input and an amplifier output, a capacitor coupled between the amplifier input and the amplifier output, and a resistor. The resistor provides a first current for an integration in response to an analog input. The ADC also includes a DAC configured to generate a second current at an DAC output based on a digital output of the ADC and includes a switch circuit with a first switch circuit terminal coupled with the DAC output and a second switch circuit terminal coupled with the amplifier input. The switch circuit is configured to couple the DAC output with the amplifier input for a summation of the second current with the first current for the integration based on an integration control signal.

Continuous-time delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter

A time-of-flight (ToF) transmitter with self-stabilized optical output phase with minimal overhead is described, where the transmitter may either function as a slave in that the laser pulse phase and width can be controlled by the master ToF receiver, or it can function as a master where the laser control pulse is generated on the same chip or a companion chip. When the ToF transmitter functions as a slave and receives the laser pulse control signal, the techniques of this disclosure can transform the receive path and the pre-driver circuit into part of a delay locked loop (DLL).

Time of flight transmitter with self-stabilized optical output phase

An excess loop delay compensation (ELDC) technique for use with a successive approximation register (SAR) based quantizer in a continuous time delta-sigma ADC is described. The techniques can efficiently program and calibrate the ELD gain in ELD compensation SAR quantizers. An ELDC circuit can include a charge pump having a digitally programmable capacitance to adjust a gain, such as the gain of the ELDC digital-to-analog converter (DAC) or the gain of the SAR DAC.

Gain programmability techniques for delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide ADCs particularly suitable for PDAF image sensors, which ADCs may have an increased speed and/or reduced design complexity and power consumption compared to conventional implementations. An example ADC for a PDAF image sensor is configured to implement modified SAR techniques which reduce the number of bit trials required for conversion, and enable increased number of samples in a row-conversion time period of the image sensor. The ADC may implement the modified SAR techniques in combination with CMS in pixel readout signal chain, which may reduce noise without a proportionate increase in ADC sample rate.

Analog-to-digital converters for phase-detection autofocus image sensors

A multibit flash quantizer circuit, such as included as a portion of delta-sigma conversion circuit, can be operated in a dynamic or configurable manner. Information indicative of at least one of an ADC input slew rate or a prior quantizer output code can be used to establish a flash quantizer conversion window. Within the selected conversion window, comparators in the quantizer circuit can be made active. Comparators outside the conversion window can be made dormant, such as depowered or biased to save power. An output from such dormant converters can be preloaded and latched. In this manner, full resolution is available without requiring that all comparator circuits within the quantizer remain active at all times.

Power-efficient flash quantizer for delta sigma converter

Systems for processing pixel signals generated by an image sensor to create improved images. More particularly, systems and methods are disclosed that adjust the gain on, inter alia, a pixel-by-pixel basis, to improve the dynamic range of the imaging system. The systems may include level detectors that measure the amplitude of a pixel signal and, based on that measurement, amplify that pixel signal by an amount that allows certain subsequent processing of the pixel signal to be more accurate. More accurately processed pixel signals can provide better overall images.
