The invention relates to MCT oil/alcohol compositions without visible clouding or phase separation between the MCT and alcohol components at room temperature. The invention encompasses MCT oil/alcohol compositions containing MCT oil, alcohol, and water. The MCT oil/alcohol compositions can be used for mixing oil-soluble, alcohol-soluble, and water-soluble compounds, and for lubricating, disinfecting, sterilizing, cleaning, and coating surfaces.

A substantially cylindrical glass bottle that is susceptible to accidental rolling and breakage when stored on its side has been structurally modified by forming a series of between approximately 8 and 24 small protrusions or bumpers spaced apart at regular intervals along either one path or two separated paths around the bottle's circumference at certain distances from the shoulder and base of the bottle. The bumpers project outward between approximately 2 mm to 6 mm from the bottle's outer sidewall surface, and pairs of these bumpers stably support the bottle stored on its side without the bottle rocking or rolling.

Household lubricant compositions containing medium chain triglycerides are non-toxic and biodegradable. The lubricant compositions are made using vegetable oil components and stabilized using alcohol, an antioxidant, and a metal chelator. The lubricant compositions offer safe and environmentally friendly alternatives to petroleum-based lubricants, yet have similar lubricity and are more stable than naturally sourced vegetable oils. The compositions also can be used to clean and coat surfaces, including food preparation surfaces, and to prevent corrosion. Still further uses include sterilization and sanitation of surfaces and as a skin conditioner and lubricant.

Methods of improving mammalian carbohydrate metabolism and treating, preventing, or halting the progression of type 2 diabetes mellitus involve the consumption of a nutritional composition containing fruit or vegetable pomace. The pomace is produced from native plant tissue and contains a mixture of soluble and insoluble fiber. Periodic consumption of the composition normalizes blood glucose concentration and controls body weight.

An improved forced air sampling cassette is provided for the capture, identification, quantification, and analysis of airborne particles such as mold spores, plant pollens, dust, and other airborne pollutants. An adhesive assembly for the cassette is also provided. The cassette makes use of a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer with substantially improved properties for quantitative capture of airborne particles up to about 300 microns in size or larger.

Described herein is a glass bottle configured to improve the mechanics of liquid flow and prevent drip initiation. Additionally, the glass bottle eliminates dripping during pouring to enable drip-free pouring. The dripping is prevented over a full range of pouring angles, which vary depending on the amount of liquid held in the glass bottle. A gelled biological growth medium in a culture container, as well as kits and methods of producing the growth medium, utilize gelling of a liquid growth medium containing low methoxyl pectin on a film of calcium salt deposited on a growth surface of the culture container. The salt acts as a trigger for gelation and is conveniently deposited on the walls by evaporation of methanol or another volatile solvent.
