Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may support synchronization signal block (SSB) coverage extension for a sub-terahertz (sub-THz) band. The UE may monitor for multiple primary synchronization signals (PSSs) in a first instance of an SSB, a number of PSSs determined by the base station based on a periodicity of the SSB. The UE may combine the PSSs and determine a frequency offset for the SSB. The UE may monitor for additional instances of the SSB in accordance with the frequency offset. In some examples, the UE may monitor for one or more secondary synchronization signals (SSSs) in the first and additional instances of the SSB and combine the SSSs. In addition, the UE may monitor for a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) in the first and additional instances of the SSB, and decode the PBCH using log-likelihood ratio (LLR) combining.

Synchronization signal block coverage extension for a sub-terahertz band

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity, a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) configuration indicating an intra-slot DMRS pattern. The UE may receive, from the network entity, an indication of an inter-slot DMRS pattern. The UE may communicate, with the network entity, a message that is associated with a time domain resource allocation that includes multiple slots, the message including one or more DMRSs in accordance with the intra-slot DMRS pattern and the inter-slot DMRS pattern. Inter-slot demodulation reference signal patterns

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may obtain synchronization with a primary cell of a wireless network. The wireless communication device may receive an indication to activate a secondary cell of the wireless network. The wireless communication device may receive a reference signal (RS) of the secondary cell. The wireless communication device may obtain synchronization with the secondary cell based at least in part on an offset between the RS of the secondary cell and a reference time of the primary cell, the reference time based at least in part on the synchronization with the primary cell. The wireless communication device may communicate via the secondary cell based at least in part on the synchronization with the secondary cell. Numerous other aspects are described.

Secondary cell synchronization

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communication device, such as a network entity or a user equipment (UE), may transmit a message to another wireless communication device, such as a network entity, including a connection establishment request and an indication of a capability of the wireless communication device to support a value of a power efficiency threshold. The other wireless communication device may respond with signaling indicating for the wireless communication device to use a value of a power efficiency for communications between the wireless communication devices. The indication may include one or more parameters indicating the value of the power efficiency. The wireless communication devices may establish a connection in accordance with the value of the power efficiency.

Reporting power efficiency for communications

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for network assisted selection of UE antenna ports for uplink transmissions. A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes transmitting, to a network entity, a plurality of sounding reference signals over a plurality of UE antenna ports. The method further includes receiving, from the network entity, an indication of one or more antenna port indexes associated with one or more preferred antenna ports for uplink transmissions, and transmitting UE uplink transmissions to the network entity using one or more selected antenna ports of the one or more indicated preferred antenna ports.

An example method performed by a UE includes processing one or more synchronization signals in a first slot according to a first configuration of slot parameters, wherein the synchronization signals are used for at least one of time or frequency tracking, receiving, from a network entity, a second configuration of slot parameters, and processing a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a second slot according to the second configuration of slot parameters, wherein the second slot occurs within a configured slot duration that is offset in time from the first slot.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit one or more messages that indicate a capability of the UE to support the reception of demodulation reference signals (DMRS) and time drift reference signals (TDRS) according to one or more signaling patterns configured by the network. The UE may then receive one or more control messages that indicate a first signaling pattern for one or more DMRSs and a second signaling pattern for one or more TDRSs, where the first signaling pattern corresponds to or is based on the second signaling pattern. The UE may receive a downlink shared channel multiplexed with the one or more DMRSs according to the first signaling pattern and may receive the downlink shared channel multiplexed with the one or more TDRSs according to the second signaling pattern.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration for SRS resources included an SRS resource set. The SRS configuration includes one or more first time domain parameters for the SRS resources. The UE may receive a dynamic indication of one or more second time domain parameters for the SRS resources. At least a subset of the one or more second time domain parameters are modified from the one or more first time domain parameters included in the SRS configuration. Techniques for dynamic adaptation of sounding reference signal time domain parameters

Some aspects more specifically relate to discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM) waveform pre-equalization for MIMO communications. A receiver device, such as an extended reality (XR) device, may be configured to offload a portion of data processing to a companion device, such as a user equipment (UE). In some aspects, the UE may generate a DFT-S-OFDM waveform and may apply a pre-equalization to the DFT-S-OFDM waveform. Applying the pre-equalization to the DFT-S-OFDM waveform may include applying a minimum mean square error (MMSE) pre-equalization to the DFT-S-OFDM waveform. The receiver device may receive the pre-equalized DFT-S-OFDM waveform from the UE and may process the pre-equalized DFT-S-OFDM waveform. For example, the receiver device may decode the pre-equalized DFT-S-OFDM waveform without performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) or inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT) operations.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to perform receiver-side noise statistics (Rnn) estimation and for an extended reality (XR) device to perform log likelihood ratio (LLR) scaling estimation. For example, the UE may transmit a first set of reference signals to the XR device. The XR device may sample the reference signals and transmit an indication of quantized samples such that the UE may perform Rnn estimations and generate a pre-equalization matrix. The UE may transmit a set of pre-equalized reference signals to the XR device such that the XR device may estimate LLR scaling coefficients. In some examples, the UE may determine the pre-equalization matrix by performing a filtering of reference signal measurements. The UE may apply whitening to account for momentary interference, and may indicate a whitening matrix to the XR device.

Receiver-side noise statistics and log likelihood ratio scaling for pre-equalization-based communication schemes

In a wireless communication system, dynamic changes of a code block (CB) to resource element (RE) mapping type may improve decoding performance in some scenarios. A user equipment may provide an indication of a preferred CB mapping type. A base station may transmit a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on a first dynamic CB mapping type in one or more slots. A UE may receive the PDSCH and determine a second CB mapping type that is preferred by the UE based on a metric. The UE may transmit an indicator of the second CB mapping type, for example, as a one-bit or two-bit indicator, which may be coupled with a channel state information (CSI) report or signaled in uplink control information (UCI) independently from a CSI report. The base station may consider the indicator when selecting a new dynamic CB mapping type for the UE.
