According to one embodiment, an enclosure includes at least one bay for insertion of a component therein, a horizontally-oriented upper wall, a horizontally-oriented lower wall, two vertically-oriented sidewalls coupled to the upper and lower walls, four integrated handles, one or more catches, and one or more interlocks, each interlock being physically configured to prevent transition of one or more handles associated therewith from the recessed position to the extended position when a component is installed in at least one bay of the enclosure, wherein two of the handles are positioned within or on an exterior of each of the vertically-oriented sidewalls of the enclosure when in the recessed position, wherein each handle is configured to extend higher than the upper wall of the enclosure when in the extended position, and wherein each handle is configured to retract to within an outer profile of the enclosure when in the recessed position.

According to one embodiment, a system includes an enclosure configured to be removable from a rack system, the enclosure including at least one bay for insertion of a component therein, a horizontally-oriented upper wall, a horizontally-oriented lower wall, two vertically-oriented sidewalls coupled to the upper and lower walls, and a set of integrated handles, each handle being configured to transition from a recessed position to an extended position, and each handle being configured to be gripped by a hand when in the extended position, wherein each handle is configured to extend higher than the upper wall of the enclosure when in the extended position, and wherein each handle is configured to retract to within an outer profile of the enclosure when in the recessed position. Each handle is configured to rotate 180&#xb0; from the recessed position to the extended position.

A fan assembly includes a fan having an outlet side, a fan duct positioned at the fan outlet side, and a hollow cylindrical chamber positioned within the fan duct, wherein the chamber has two closed ends, a cylindrical side wall, and an inlet port. The dimensions of the chamber are determined to suppress one or more noise frequencies emitted by the fan. In one example, one or more dimensions of a chamber disposed in an outlet duct of an axial fan is automatically adjusted to suppress a noise frequency that is a function of a rotational speed of the axial fan.

According to one embodiment, a method for placing an adapter card on a system board of a computer system includes, aligning a tool having an adapter card secured therewith to a slot on a system board of a computer system using a positioning member, and seating the adapter card into the slot on the system board. The tool includes a carrier for supporting the adapter card, at least one lower retaining member extending from a lower portion of the carrier for securing the adapter card to the carrier, at least one upper retaining member extending from an upper portion of the carrier for securing the adapter card to the carrier, and the positioning member coupled to the carrier.

A product, according to one embodiment, includes a support portion, the support portion being elongated in a first direction; and an insertion portion extending from the support portion in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, the insertion portion having dimensions allowing insertion of the insertion portion in a card connector of a circuit board. At least an exterior of the insertion portion is electrically insulating. The support portion is wider than the insertion portion in a third direction orthogonal to each of the first and second directions.

A method and apparatus for securing electronic components in an electronics system enclosure are disclosed. An apparatus can include an electronics system enclosure having a compartment adapted to receive a removable electronic component. The apparatus also includes a cam having a portion extending into the compartment sufficient to hinder insertion of the removable electronic component in a default orientation. The portion of the cam includes first and second surfaces. The portion of the cam is configured to deflect sufficient to permit insertion of the removable electronic component into the compartment in response to a normal force. The deflection causes the cam to deflect to a modified orientation. The cam portion returns to the default orientation in the absence of the normal force. The second surface of the portion is configured and arranged to engage a cam lever that is rotatably mounted to the removable electronic component.

Securing modules in an electronics system

Embodiments of the invention relate to a primary contact or primary body comprising of a primary material with a propensity to corrode. A location on a surface of the primary body is an active location and functions to interface with a secondary body. The active location has a first surface and an oppositely disposed second surface. An anode material is applied to the second surface adjacent to the active location on the first surface. The primary body is exposed to a corrosive material. The anode material functions to divert a galvanic corrosive medium from the active location to the applied anode material.

Preventing corrosion of an electrical connector

A service indicator lighting system which minimizes the active lighting sources for designation of a failed or otherwise identified component is provided. The system includes an array of service indicators arranged in a grid of columns and rows. The system further includes a single light source provided at each row and each column of the grid of columns and rows. The light source for each column illuminates light of a first color and the light source in each row illuminates light of a second color different than the first color. The system further includes a plurality of light pipes intersecting at each service indicator of the array of service indicators such that light illuminated from a single light source in each row and each column is combined together at a respective intersection forming a third color.

According to embodiments of the disclosure, assemblies, and methods for cable management are disclosed. The assembly may include a chassis and a cable management apparatus pivotably connected to the chassis. The chassis may have an interior compartment adapted to receive a first and second electronic component. The first electronic component may be adapted to connect to a first cable assembly and the second electronic component may be adapted to connect to a second cable assembly. The cable management apparatus may include a first bracket and second bracket supporting a management arm, the management arm may include two parallel planar bars, the bars fixedly attached together by one or more members perpendicular to the bars. The management arm may be adapted to support at least one of the first and second cable assemblies and may pivot between an operational position and a service position.

A cooling apparatus of an array of fan cradles holding fans where a movable baffle assembly directs airflow and blocks removal of more than one fan at a time. A plurality of fans held in a fan cradle assembly in which the fan cradle for a fan to be replaced mechanically moves and is engaged with the movable baffle assembly to prevent removal of the other fans. A method is provided by which an operator may remove and replace an existing fan in an array of fans.

An electronic enclosure includes a first electronic module, a second electronic module, a third electronic module and a handle. The first electronic module is physically connected to the second electronic module and the third electronic module is physically connected to the second electronic module. The handle forces sequenced orthogonal disconnection of the electronic modules such that the third electronic module horizontally disengages from the second electronic module prior to the second electronic module vertically disengages from the first electronic module.

A method and apparatus of cooling electronic components when replacing a cooling device in an information technology system are disclosed. The apparatus may include first and second cooling device trays that may be slidably mounted within an information technology system. The cooling device trays may include one or more cooling devices that are movably mounted to the cooling device trays. The apparatus may pivot one or more of the cooling devices when a pivot member contacts a fixed member with the chassis.
