A garbage truck camera and safety system includes a garbage truck having a lift arm mechanism, a hopper, and a trash compacting device disposed within the hopper. At least one camera and temperature sensor are disposed within the hopper. A control module is operably connected to the cameras and the temperature sensor, as well as to one or more vehicle systems, via a vehicle control interface disposed within the driver's cab. The control module includes a processor, a non-transitory computer readable medium operatively connected to the processor, and a logic stored in the non-transitory computer readable medium that, when executed by the processor, causes the system to detect, via the temperature sensor, the temperature within the hopper; and if the temperature detected is above a predetermined threshold temperature, then deactivating the trash compacting device. The system will prevent harm from being done to individuals who accidentally fall into the hopper.

Garbage truck camera and safety system

A container seal cutting device for removing the seal of a container. The container seal cutting device includes a cap having a top wall, one or more sidewalls, and an open lower end that can receive the mouth of a container therein. The upper surface of the top wall includes a cutting blade pivotally secured thereto. The cutting blade is movable between a stored configuration and an upright configuration. In the stored configuration, the cutting blade rests within a recessed area on the cap so that it remains substantially flush with the upper surface thereof. In the upright configuration, the cutting blade extends substantially perpendicular from the upper surface of the cap so it can be utilized to remove the seal of a container. The device further includes a protrusion disposed on the cutting blade in order to safely move the cutting blade between the stored and upright configuration.

A system for poling piezoelectric devices comprises a plurality of thin-film components, a plurality of piezoelectric devices, a poling pad for poling the piezoelectric devices, a plurality of traces, and a plurality of current-limiting elements. The thin-film components are separated by dice lanes to form an array, and the piezoelectric devices are formed on the thin-film components. The traces connect the piezoelectric devices across the dice lanes in parallel to the poling pad. Each current-limiting element is connected in series with one of the piezoelectric devices, in order to limit current to individual piezoelectric devices that experience current-related failure.

Commonly-poled piezoelectric device

A head using heaters or actuators to control head media spacing is disclosed. In embodiments disclosed the heaters are selectively energized to control a close point of the head for read and/or write operations. As disclosed power is supplied to multiple heaters to generate heat induced protrusion data and the heat induced protrusion data is used to apply power to the multiple heaters for head media spacing control.

Method for active control of spacing between a head and a storage medium

A magnetic device includes first and second electrodes and a sensor stack connected to the first and second electrodes proximate a sensing surface of the magnetic sensor. A resistive element is connected to the first and second electrodes in parallel or in series with the sensor stack and adjacent the sensing surface. In some embodiments, the resistive element is configured to generate signals related to changes in its resistance. A controller to respond to the resistive element signals can also be included.

A slider having a slider body is provided. An electrical connection is coupled to the slider body. A first actuator is coupled to the electrical connection and adapted to displace a first portion of the slider body. Additionally, a second actuator is coupled to the electrical connection and adapted to displace a second portion of the slider body.

Method and apparatus for active control of spacing between a head and a storage medium

A magnetic sensing device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a first magnetic shield, a second magnetic shield, and a sensor. The first magnetic shield forms at least a portion of the first electrode. The second magnetic shield includes a first region that forms at least a portion of the first electrode and a second region that forms at least a portion of the second electrode. The sensor is positioned between the first and second magnetic shields and is electrically connected in series between the first and second electrodes.

A slider having a slider body is provided. An electrical connection is coupled to the slider body. A first actuator is coupled to the electrical connection and adapted to displace a first portion of the slider body. Additionally, a second heater is coupled to the electrical connection and adapted to displace a second portion of the slider body.

A magnetoresistive reader having a sensor, current contacts with low parasitic resistance and a top shield with substantially planar topology is fabricated by first defining a stripe height back edge of the sensor. Next, a reader width of the sensor is defined. The current contacts are deposited to a thickness such that a top surface of the current contacts is substantially level with a top surface of the sensor. The top shield is deposited over the sensor and the current contacts. Defining the stripe height back edge prior to the reader width results in current contacts with low parasitic resistance and inhibits the formation of magnetic domains in the top shield.

A head for use in accessing data from an electrically conductive media surface is provided. The head has a slider body defining a bearing plane configured to face the media surface. A fly height control electrode is positioned on the raised portion. Further, the fly height control electrode and the media surface are adapted to form opposing plates of a capacitor with a dielectric layer of air supporting the head. Also, the fly height control electrode is electrically isolated from the slider body. A head electrical connection disposed on the slider body is electrically connected to the fly height control electrode. The head electrical connection is adapted to provide a fly height control voltage to the fly height control electrode.

System and method for electrostatic fly height control

A magnetoresistive read head has read head layers that are shaped to form an air bearing surface and a sensor stripe cavity with an open side at the air bearing surface. A sensor stripe is deposited in the sensor stripe cavity. The sensor stripe has a front surface that is set back from the air bearing surface to define an encapsulation cavity extending from the front surface to the air bearing surface. An encapsulation layer is deposited in the encapsulation cavity. The encapsulation layer encapsulates the front surface.
