A screen cylinder includes a profiled bars aligned longitudinally and coupled to at least one support ring. Each of the profiled bars includes an outer surface facing away from the support ring, a first slot surface extending from the outer surface to the attachment end, and a second slot surface opposite the first slot surface and extending from the outer surface to the attachment end of the profiled bar. The first slot surface of one profiled bar and the second slot surface of another immediately adjacent profiled bar define a slot. The profiled bars include a hardened layer integral with or disposed on at least a portion of the first slot surface of the profiled bar. The hardened layer may have a Vickers hardness greater than the hardness of the base metal.

A ragger system for removing solid debris from a pulper vessel of a pulping system is disclosed. The ragger system includes a ragger operable to pull a tail of solid debris from the pulper vessel. The ragger includes a puller mechanism, a puller drive, a rider roll, and a pressure device to adjust a pressure of the rider roll on the tail between the puller mechanism and the rider roll. The ragger system includes a measurement device for determining attributes of the tail, operating conditions of the pulping system or ragger, or combinations of these. The ragger system includes a control system that measures input variables with the measurement devices, determines the attributes of the tail or operating conditions from the input variables, and adjusts a withdrawal rate, pull direction, pressure, rider roll torque or speed, or combinations thereof to maintain continuity of operation of the ragger.

Ragger systems and methods for removing solid debris from pulping processes

A twin wire press for dewatering solid-liquid suspensions, such as pulp suspensions, between top and bottom webs is described herein which includes consecutive primary, secondary and tertiary dewatering sections. The primary dewatering section includes a wedge area. The secondary dewatering section is positioned adjacent to the primary section downstream therefrom and includes grooved rolls in an s-roll configuration. The tertiary dewatering section includes rolls in a scissor-nip configuration. The press rolls in the secondary and tertiary section are all supported onto a frame. Whenever maintenance is to be performed on any one of the grooved rolls or on the press roll assemblies, an overhead crane can for example be used since no frame structure is provided on top thereof.
