A pressure sensitive adhesive tape that employs a water-absorptive backing, a microparticle-containing pressure sensitive adhesive and a water-dispersible component is provided. A method of bonding close fitting parts is also disclosed. In the method, a microparticle-containing pressure sensitive adhesive tape (with or without the water-dispersible component in the adhesive) is employed. Articles made using the tape and/or by the method are also disclosed.

An ink composition comprising a resinous binder comprising a polyamide, a coloring agent, a chlorinated polyolefin and a solvent, with the chlorinated polyolefin comprising from about 3 to about 12 weight percent of the composition. A method for forming pads of pressure sensitive adhesive coated sheets with similar discontinuities (e.g., printed indicia or openings) on the sheets substantially aligned. A strip of pressure sensitive adhesive coated material is helically wound around the periphery of a roller to form a roll comprising a multiplicity of overlying layers of the strip by rotating the roller about its axis to pull the strip along a predetermined path onto the roller. Discontinuities are formed on the strip along the predetermined path at locations that are progressively increasingly spaced apart to compensate for the increasing circumference of the roll and which result in at least one set of discontinuities being located along the periphery of the roller in substantial alignment radially outwardly of the roller; and pads containing such aligned discontinuities are then cut from the roll.

Pad forming method

Directly printable tape comprising a polymeric film backing having a low adhesion backsize coating on one major surface thereof and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the other major surface thereof. The low adhesion backsize coating comprises a mixture of a low adhesion backsize compound and an ink adhesion promoter. Also, a method of printing on the low adhesion backsize coating and an ink composition. The ink comprises a conventional flexographic ink composition containing an ink adhesion promoter. The tape is heated to a temperature sufficiently high to soften the backsize coating but not so high as to distort the polymeric backing or degrade the adhesive, with the ink being applied while the backsize coating is in a softened state.

Method of printing the backside of adhesive tape

A ribbon assembly including face-to-face bow ribbons attached together at spaced locations around a pull member attached to their ends that can be pulled to gather the bow ribbons into a bow. Upon such pulling an end portion of the assembly is pulled between the attachment locations to hold the bow ribbons together in the shape of a bow.
