The present invention relates to new pharmaceutical formulations for aerosols with at least two or more active substances for administration by inhalation or by nasal route. Specifically, the invention relates to pharmaceutical preparations for propellant-driven metered dose aerosols using a fluorohydrocarbon (HFC) as propellant, which contain a combination of active substance of two or more active substances, wherein at least one active substance is present in dissolved form together with at least one other active substance in the form of suspended particles.

Pharmaceutical formulations for aerosols with two or more active substances

A method and apparatus for homogenizing and micronizing aerosol formulations. The method includes the steps of homogenizing and micronizing an aerosol formulation at ambient temperature in a closed apparatus where the entire apparatus is maintained under elevated pressure. The apparatus includes a closed loop containing a reaction vessel, a homogenizer and a fluid conduit interconnecting the reaction vessel and the homogenizer. The homogenizer includes an interaction chamber and an intensifier pump. The interaction chamber includes a stream splitter for separating a stream of aerosol formulation components into two streams and an impaction chamber for recombining the stream.

Method and apparatus for homogenizing aerosol formulations

The present invention is concerned with an aerosol formulation which contains an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of ipratropium and an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of albuterol in combination with an effective amount of soya lecithin as a suspending agent and a propellant.
