A medical lead for implantation includes an electrode assembly having a plurality of electrodes. Each of the plurality of electrodes include a plurality of electrode segments. Each electrode segment has a flexible conductor directly coupled to it. A strut is coupled within each of the plurality of electrodes such that each of the flexible conductors coupled to the plurality of electrode segments are supported between the strut and each of the plurality of electrodes by the strut. An insulator fills gaps between the plurality of electrodes, the strut and the flexible conductors.

Segmented electrode and method

Disclosed is a needle handling device engageable to an introducer tool used for implantation of a penile prosthetic insert in a corpora cavernosum of a penis. The needle handling device includes an attachment section, a needle capturing section and an intermediate section. The attachment section is provided at a first end of the needle handling device and is releasably attached to the introducer tool. The needle capturing section is provided at a second end of the needle handling device and is configured to capture and extract a needle out of the introducer tool. The intermediate section connects the first and the second end of the needle handling device. A method of implanting a penile prosthetic insert in a corpora cavernosum of a penis using a needle handling device is also disclosed.

A balloon catheter stent deployment system is disclosed wherein a balloon catheter is provided and a tubular stent is crimped onto a distal portion of the balloon with a distal end of the stent in close proximity to a point where the distal end of the balloon is attached to the inner tube of the catheter. A proximal section of the balloon extending from a proximal end of the stent to a point where the proximal end of the balloon is attached to the outer shaft of the catheter remains uncovered by the stent and, has a larger uninflated outer diameter than the crimped stent. Thus, in some embodiments, the proximal section of the balloon provides a protective cone for the proximal end of the stent to help resist frictional forces from disengaging the stent from the balloon in the event the balloon catheter and stent are withdrawn back into a guide catheter during a procedure. A stepped enclosure is also disclosed which is used in a disclosed fabrication method to allow the proximal section of the balloon to be inflated after the stent is crimped onto the distal section of the balloon.
