A piston for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The piston is configured to reciprocate along a centre axis of the piston during operation in an engine. The piston comprises a number of fuel directing surfaces arranged at a distance from a top surface of the piston measured along the centre axis. Each fuel directing surface is configured to direct a fuel spray sprayed onto the fuel directing surface. The fuel directing surfaces are arranged with gaps between two adjacent fuel directing surfaces. The present disclosure further relates to an engine comprising a piston and a vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine.

A piston for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The piston comprises a number of fuel directing surfaces for directing a fuel spray sprayed onto the fuel directing surface. At least one of the fuel direction surfaces is/are inclined relative to a tangential direction of the piston. The present disclosure further relates to an engine comprising a piston and a vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine.

A diesel engine includes at least one cylinder () with a piston () having a piston bowl (). A fuel injector () is configured to direct a fuel spray towards a target area () on an annular wall section () of the piston bowl so as to make a flame () formed by ignition of the fuel spray hit the target area. The target area borders, via a flow separation edge (), on a lowered flow separation area () on the annular wall section so as to give this annular wall section a stepped configuration. The flow separation edge and flow separation area are configured to induce the formation of a vortex-filled wake between the flame and the flow separation area on the downstream side of the flow separation edge when the flame flows from the target area, across the flow separation edge and over the flow separation area.

A four stroke internal combustion engine is disclosed comprising at least one cylinder arrangement, an exhaust conduit, and at least one turbine. The cylinder arrangement comprises an exhaust port arrangement configured to open and close an exhaust flow area, A. The cylinder arrangement has a maximum volume, V. The exhaust conduit extends between the exhaust flow area, A, and a turbine wheel inlet area, A, of the turbine and has an exhaust conduit volume, Vthat is &#x2264;0.5 times the maximum volume, V. The exhaust port arrangement is configured to expose the exhaust flow area, A, at a size of at least 0.22 times the maximum volume, V, when a piston of the cylinder arrangement is at the bottom dead centre, BDC.

An arrangement for introducing a liquid medium into exhaust gases from a combustion engine: A mixing chamber () has exhaust gases flow through it. Its downstream end () has an endwall () of thermally conductive material as an end surface of the mixing chamber (). An injector injects the liquid medium spray into the mixing chamber () or into exhaust gases led into the mixing chamber (). An exhaust passage () adjacent to the mixing chamber () is intended for exhaust gases to flow through it and is delineated from the mixing chamber () by the endwall (). Heat flanges () of thermally conductive material are situated on at least part of the side of said endwall () which faces towards the exhaust passage (), extend into the exhaust passage (), absorb heat from exhaust gases which flow through the exhaust passage and give off this heat to the endwall.

Arrangement for introducing a liquid medium into exhaust gases from a combustion engine, having a mixing duct, an injector for injecting the liquid medium into the mixing duct, and an inlet duct situated upstream of the mixing duct. The inlet duct has a first duct section which is annular in cross-section and a second duct section which is annular in cross-section. The second duct section is situated downstream of the first duct section and surrounds the mixing duct. The first duct section surrounds the second duct section. The mixing duct further has a flow reversal section via which an annular outlet of the first duct section is connected to an annular inlet of the second duct section and which is configured to reverse the direction of flow of the exhaust gases flowing through the inlet duct, to flow through the second duct section in a direction opposite to that of the exhaust gases in the first duct section.
