A method and apparatus for tracking and mitigating phase noise in a communication receiver are disclosed. The phase noise tracking and mitigation apparatus operates in a recursive manner and includes a quantizer for determining data symbols from noise-compensated input values, a phase noise estimator for determining raw phase noise values from the data symbols and a first sequence of uncompensated input values, an error concealment module for removing unreliable samples from the raw phase noise values, a filter operable to filter the raw phase noise values to produce filtered phase noise values, and a phase-noise compensator for determining noise-compensated output values dependent upon the filtered phase noise values and the first sequence of uncompensated input values. Filter coefficients, and initial noise-compensated input values are determined from one or more second sequences of uncompensated input values corresponding to known symbols corrupted by phase noise.

Phase noise mitigation for wireless communications

A user equipment and a wireless radio frequency assistant in a communication system that supports multiple input multiple output. The wireless radio frequency assistant and the user equipment operate together as a single system. The user equipment controls and activates the wireless radio frequency assistant to transform a first frequency of a radio frequency signal transmitted to the system of user equipment and the wireless radio frequency assistant to a second frequency. The wireless radio frequency assistant transmits the second frequency to the user equipment.

Multiple input multiple output user equipment radio frequency assistant system

A radio frequency front end of a receiver including a tunable filter receiving a signal; a controller for tuning the tunable filter; and an interference detection circuit configured to detect interference and provide an input to a controller, wherein the controller tunes the tunable filter based on the input from the interference detection circuit. Also a method for removing interference at a radio frequency front end of a receiver, the method detecting interference at an interference detection circuit; and tuning at least one tunable filter to at least one frequency of the detected interference.

Method and apparatus for interference measurement and response

Embodiments are disclosed of a switchplexer for performing test operations on a radio device. The switchplexer comprises a plurality of test ports corresponding to a plurality of radio device ports and a plurality of switches for routing test signals between the individual test ports. Processing logic is disclosed for controlling actuation of the switches to route test signals between individual test ports. The switchplexer disclosed herein may be incorporated into a mobile test device for self-test operations or may be used in a manufacturing or maintenance facility for testing and calibration operations.

Systems and methods for testing radio-based devices

The present invention provides a serrodyne architecture that is capable of operating at high frequencies. The architecture generally includes a coupler, a delay line, and a switching system. The delay line is coupled to a reflective port of the coupler. The switching system is coupled to the delay line at different points and is configured to selectively shunt those points on the delay line to change the effective electrical length of the delay line. The effective electrical length is changed throughout the period, corresponding to the amount the frequency of the input signal is shifted. In operation, an input signal is provided to an input port of the coupler, and an output signal is provided at the output port, wherein the input signal and the output signal vary by a translation frequency, which is controlled based on how the effective electrical length of the delay line is changed.
