A system accesses a virtual scene including a three-dimensional (3D) object and a mesh object that models a cloth object. The system performs a refinement simulation to model a drape of the cloth object over the 3D object. Performing the refinement simulation includes, for each of a sequence of mesh resolutions: determining a configuration of the mesh model that minimizes a proxy energy function of a finest mesh resolution of the sequence of mesh resolutions. The system generates, for display via a user interface during the refinement simulation, an editable preview object comprising the mesh object at a coarsest level mesh resolution. The system receives a modification to the editable preview object and displays the modified editable preview object. A configuration of a finest level mesh resolution of the mesh object in the refinement simulation is geometrically consistent with a configuration of the modified editable preview object.

Modeling interfaces with progressive cloth simulation

An object folding tool is leveraged in a digital medium environment. A two-dimensional (2D) representation of an unfolded object is obtained, and visual cues indicating folds for transforming the unfolded object into a folded object are detected. Based on the detected visual cues, a shape of the folded object is determined, and a three-dimensional (3D) representation of the folded object having the determined shape is generated. In one or more implementations, the 2D representation of the unfolded object and the 3D representation of the folded object are displayed concurrently on a display device.

Systems and methods provide for efficiently and accurately determining a simplified path that conforms to the geometry of an original path by simultaneously minimizing the deviation from the original path and reducing the number of anchor points in the simplified path. A simplified path may be iteratively generated by updating parametric values and anchor points for candidate simplified paths at epochs. A deviation in distance between points on the original path and corresponding points on candidate paths may be iteratively decreased to ensure that the resulting simplified path follows the geometry of the original path to a predetermined threshold. Continuity constrains can also be applied to ensure smoothness of the simplified path.

Path simplification for computer graphics applications

Systems and methods for three-dimensional (3D) modeling are described. Embodiments of the inventive concept are configured to receive manipulation input for editing a scene in a static 3D modeling application, perform a physics simulation based on the manipulation input, wherein the physics simulation comprises a plurality of simulation steps performed based on a set of motion constraints configured for the static 3D modeling application, and apply a change to the scene in the static 3D modeling application based on the physics simulation.

The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for removing an anchor point from a Bezier spline while preserving the shape of the Bezier spline. For example, the disclosed systems can replace adjacent input segments of an initial Bezier spline that are connected at an anchor point with a new contiguous segment that does not include an anchor point and that spans the portion of the spline covered by the adjacent segments. The disclosed systems can utilize an objective function to determine tangent vectors that indicate locations of control points for generating the new segment to replace the adjacent segments. In addition, the disclosed systems can generate a modified Bezier spline that includes the new segment in place of the adjacent segments of the initial Bezier spline.

Removing anchor points from a path by parameterizing the path to reduce deviation

Embodiments are disclosed for constrained modification of vector geometry. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods comprise receiving a selection of a first segment of a vector graphic to be edited, identifying an active region associated with the first segment, wherein the active region includes the first segment and at least one second segment which comprise a geometric primitive, identifying the region of influence including at least one third segment connected to the active region, identifying at least one constraint associated with the active region or the region of influence based at least on the geometric primitive, receiving an edit to the active region, and generating an update for the vector graphic based on the edit and the at least one constraint.

Constrained modification of vector graphics

A neighboring panel view is leveraged in a digital medium environment. Initially, a view generation system receives a selection of panels of a three-dimensional (3D) assembled representation of an object, such as to apply digital graphics to the 3D assembled representation. The view generation system also receives a selection of an option to display a neighboring panel view, which is a two-dimensional (2D) flattened view local to the selection. In particular, the neighboring panel view displays an arrangement of the selected panels of the object and their neighboring panels. The view generation system arranges the selected panels in this arrangement as those panels are arranged in the 3D assembled representation. The view generation system also arranges the neighboring panels in the neighboring panel view adjacent to the selected panels with which they are adjacent on the object.

Removing anchor points from a path while reducing deviation of the path

Systems and methods for editing an image based on multiple constraints are described. Embodiments of the systems and methods may identify a change to a vector graphics data structure, generate an update for the vector graphics data structure based on strictly enforcing a handle constraint, a binding constraint, and a continuity constraint, adjust the vector graphics data structure sequentially for each of a plurality of sculpting constraints according to a priority ordering of the sculpting constraints, generate an additional update for the vector graphics data structure based on strictly enforcing the binding constraint and the continuity constraint and approximately enforcing the handle constraint and the sculpting constraints, adjust the vector graphics data structure sequentially for each of a plurality of sculpting constraints, and display the vector graphic based on the adjusted vector graphics data structure.

Shape aware transformation

Techniques for intuitive modifications of digital graphics in a digital media environment are described. For example, a digital graphics creation system accesses vector artwork including a vector object, such as a Bezier curve. The digital graphics creation system receives user inputs, including a user input defining handles on the vector object and a user input interacting with the handles indicating a desired change to the vector object. The digital graphics creation system modifies the vector artwork, including the vector object, by accounting for topology of the vector object and maintaining connections between connected segments of the vector object. The digital graphics creation system outputs the modified vector artwork, including the vector object, such as in a user interface.

Digital media environment for intuitive modifications of digital graphics

Systems and techniques are described herein for generating a triangle mesh for an image represented by curves (e.g., Bezier segments). An outline of an image is determined and reduced to a set of connected polylines that are efficiently represented in an edge list. A triangle mesh is generated based on the edge list, rather than by directly sampling the curves of the image and using the samples as vertices of triangles. Thus, the triangle mesh is generated with a number of triangles independent from a number of curves representing the image. Samples of the curves are bound to the triangle mesh by representing the samples with barycentric coordinates with respect to a triangle in the mesh. Hence, once a mesh is deformed, locations of the samples are determined from the barycentric coordinates and triangles in the deformed mesh, and used to reconstruct the curves of the deformed image.

This application relates generally to augmenting images and videos with dynamic object compositing, and more specifically, to generating synthetic training data to train a machine learning model to automatically augment an image or video with a dynamic object. The synthetic training data may contain multiple data points from thousands of simulated dynamic object movements within a virtual environment. Based on the synthetic training data, the machine learning model may determine the movement of a new dynamic object within new virtual environment.

In embodiments of animation using keyframing and projected dynamics simulation, an animation object is displayed with handles associated with object regions for the animation object, each handle being selectable for setting animation constraints on an object region. An animation simulator receives a user input designating a particular handle with an animation constraint, and sets the animation constraint on the particular handle for the associated object region. The animation simulator also receives another user input, designating a timing of the object region associated with the particular handle of the animation object through multiple frames in an animation sequence. The animation simulator projects a simulation of the animation object utilizing a projected dynamics algorithm that applies physics to simulate the set of object regions of the animation object in the animation sequence, the simulation including simulating the object region associated with the particular handle based on the timing and the animation constraint.
