A support structure provides two or more axes of intelligent locomotion for a movable object on the support structure. The support structure can include a track system made up of a plurality of identically configured track modules that are connected end-to-end. Each track module can include an elongated body defining a longitudinal axis and having two ends. Each end can include at least one beveled edge and at least one track surface extending longitudinally along the elongated body. The track modules can be connected to a power source and include electrical contacts that provide electricity to movable objects that travel along the track system.

Overhead support structure for intelligent locomotion for objects and equipment along two or more axes of movement

A system including a controllable device configured to provide a premises related service in an area of a premises. The system includes an electroencephalography (EEG) device configured to be positioned with respect to a head of a user and process signals detected in real-time. The system also includes a processor in communication with the EEG device, a memory accessible by the processor and instructions stored in the memory for execution by the processor. A data is stored in the memory that associates each of a plurality of predetermined sets of signals from the brain detected via the EEG device with at least one control instruction. The execution of the instructions configures the processor to using the stored data, analyze the real-time detected signals to determine that the real-time detected signals correspond to one of the plurality of predetermined set of signals associated with the one control instruction and generate a control data signal based on the one control instruction.

Electroencephalography control of controllable device

A control module, for lighting or other environmental control or the like has embedded voice responsive control capability. The recognizable command set supported by the control module is customizable. Software for a data processor configures the control module to identify a user in the vicinity of the control module and change voice response software based at least in part on identity of the user. The changed voice response software configures the control module, to recognize a customized set of vocal commands, e.g. associated with the identified user, in response to speech detected via a microphone and an audio processor of the control module, without requiring network communication. The control module issues control signals to equipment controlled by the module that correspond to the recognized commands of the customized vocal command set.

Customizable embedded vocal command sets for a lighting and/or other environmental controller

A method for operating a robotic agent swarm system. The method includes: sending, via a communication network, a reconfiguration instruction from an orchestration controller to a number of robotic luminaire agents, each of the robotic luminaire agents of the swarm system being held at least periodically against an architectural surface comprising a holonomic operational area by a suspension and having a light source configured to illuminate a region in a proximity of the architectural surface. The method also includes changing one or more operating conditions of one or more of the robotic luminaire agents in response to the reconfiguration instruction, including holonomically moving at least one of the robotic luminaire agents from a first position on the holonomic operational area to a second position on the holonomic operational area.

Methods for operating mechatronic transforming luminaire swarms

A lighting device includes a light source, an image sensor, a controller, a memory, and a wireless transceiver. The light source is configured to emit light for general illumination. The image sensor is configured to acquire an image of an area illuminated by the light source. The controller is coupled to control the image sensor and to receive the acquired image of the illuminated area from the image sensor. The controller is configured to operate the wireless transceiver to receive identification information from a wireless device in the illuminated area. The controller is further configured to automatically generate a visual signature based on image information of a person or object, obtained from the image of the illuminated area. The controller also is configured to store the visual signature of the person or object in the memory in association with the wireless device identification information.

A self-propelled unit for movable operation on a support structure along a first axis of movement and a second axis of movement that is transverse to the first axis of movement includes a carrier configured for movable displacement on the support structure. A first conveyor assembly is operable to move the carrier on the support structure along the first axis of movement. A second conveyor assembly is operable to move the carrier on the support structure along the second axis of movement. A light source can be attached to the carrier in an operable mode to provide illumination to an area in proximity to the carrier. At least one power contact is configured to maintain electrical contact between the carrier and the support structure.

A system including an electroencephalography (EEG) device configured to be positioned on a head of a user and process detected EEG signals. The system also includes a processor in communication with the EEG device, a memory accessible by the processor and instructions stored in the memory for execution by the processor to generate, based on a control instruction, a control data signal, for control of an operation of a controllable device configured to provide a premises related service in an area of a premises. In the training phase, execution of the instructions configures the processor to determine whether or not that the control operation of the control data signal is consistent with the detected EEG signals based on a trusted input from the user, and upon determination that the control operation is consistent with the detected EEG signals, store, in the memory, recognition data characterizing the detected EEG signals as a predetermined set of signals in association with the control instruction.

Training of an electroencephalography based control system

A system including an electroencephalography (EEG) device configured to be positioned on a head of a user. The system also includes a processor in communication with the EEG device, a memory accessible by the processor and instructions stored in the memory for execution by the processor to, in configuration phase, for each respective location among a plurality of locations at a respective time among a plurality of times, obtain an identification (ID) associated with the respective premises at the respective time, determine a control instruction associated with the EEG signals detected from among a plurality of control instructions; store the determined control instruction in association with the obtained premises ID, as a user preference data relative to the respective location; and at a later time, during an operational phase at the respective location, utilize the stored user preference data to communicate a control data signal corresponding to the determined control instruction to a controllable device at the respective premises.

A robotic agent swarm system having first robotic luminaire agents, and at least one control processor. Each agent has a suspension configured to hold the agent against an architectural surface, which includes a holonomic operational area; at least one propulsion motor configured to enable holonomic movement of the agent different locations on the architectural surface; a communication system configured to communicate with at least one other agent; a power supply operatively connected to the at least one propulsion motor and the communication system; and a light source oriented to illuminate a region around the architectural surface. The control processor is operatively associated with the agents and configured to transmit operating instructions, via at least one of the agent's respective communication system. The operating instructions include instructions for operating one or more agent's respective propulsion motor to move the agent holonomically within the holonomic operational area.

The support structure can include a track system made up of a plurality of identically configured track modules that are connected end-to-end. Each track module can include an elongated body defining a longitudinal axis and having two ends. The track surface can include a plurality of protuberances arranged in rows that are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body, and in columns that are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the elongated body. The track modules can be connected to a power source and include electrical contacts that provide electricity to self-propelled units that travel along the track system.

The examples relate to implementations of apparatuses, such as lighting devices, and a system that uses a speech-based user interface to provide speech-based navigation services. The speech-based user interface provides navigation instructions that direct a person to the location of an item within a premises. The person interacts with a speech-based apparatus to receive the navigation instructions as speech-based directions through the premises from a specified location to the item location, or as static navigation instructions enabling the person to navigate from the specified location to the item location. A directional microphone and a controllable speaker receive audio inputs from and output audio outputs to a specified location or subarea of the premises to a person using the speech-based user interface. The audio outputs are directed to the person in the subarea of the premises, and have a higher amplitude within the subarea than outside the subarea of the premises.

Lighting centric indoor location based service with speech-based user interface

A system includes a depth sensing device that includes a depth sensor. The depth sensor includes an infrared projector and an infrared camera. The system includes a processor coupled to the depth sensor and a memory accessible to the processor, and programming in the memory. Execution of the programming by the processor configures the system to perform functions, including functions to project, via the infrared projector, a pattern of infrared light on a plurality of objects located in a space that are reached by the projected infrared light. The plurality of objects includes objects of interest and light fixtures in the space. The execution of the programming by the processor further configures the system to determine light fixture location coordinates for each of the light fixtures based on computed distances between the objects of interest and each of the light fixtures based on distortions of the projected infrared light.

Light fixture commissioning using depth sensing device

System and method examples offer ways to count occupants in an area by sound. A system includes a data network, a light fixture having intelligent driver circuitry coupled to a light source, a lighting control device to control a light output and operations of the light source in an area, and a microphone coupled to the lighting control device. The lighting control device includes programming that configures a processor to control the microphone to sample and detect sound in the area, determine a location of the detected sound relative to a position of the microphone coupled to the lighting control device, and increment an occupant counter to correspond to each newly determined location of sound in the area for a predetermined period of time.

An identification marking is incorporated into a light fixture to provide a uniquely identifiable light fixture. The identification marking is humanly imperceptible. Location information for the uniquely identifiable light fixture is obtained by a mobile device after identifying the light fixture based on the identification marking. Location of the mobile device is estimated based on the obtained location information of the uniquely identifiable light fixture.
