An external defibrillator system for assisting manual delivery of chest compressions and ventilations to a patient by a rescuer as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) includes a speaker, and a processor, memory, and associated circuitry coupled to the speaker. The processor is configured to initiate prompting for the chest compressions and the ventilations manually delivered to the patient by the rescuer as CPR, control the speaker to generate first auditory cues for the chest compressions, and control the speaker to generate second auditory cues for the ventilations with a different sound than the first auditory cues for the chest compressions. The first auditory cues and the second auditory cues assist the rescuer in timing the delivery of the chest compressions and the ventilations.

Systems and methods are provided for operating a physiological monitoring system that comprises a distributed algorithm. The physiological monitoring system may comprise a sensor and a physiological monitor that may be communicatively coupled with the sensor. The sensor may store algorithm configuration data; and the physiological monitor may store an executable code segment configured to execute a first algorithm. The physiological monitor may be configured to receive the algorithm configuration data and to configure or modify at least part of the first algorithm based upon the algorithm configuration data to determine at least one physiological parameter of a subject based on physiological signal provided by the sensor.

The physiological monitoring system ma comprise a sensor and a physiological monitor that may be communicatively coupled with the sensor. The sensor may store a first executable code segment and the physiological monitor may store a second executable code segment. Systems and methods are provided for operating a physiological monitoring system for determining a physiological parameter of a subject. The physiological system may comprise a pulse oximetry sensor for generating a photoplethysmography (PPG) signal and a gain controller for setting a light detection level. The system may also comprise a filter for filtering the PPG signal. The filter may comprise at least one of filter history and filter coefficients. The system may comprise a processor for determining the power level of light sources of the pulse oximetry sensor and the light detection gain level, and calculating a scaling factor based on the determined power level and the light detection gain level. The processor may also be used for scaling one or more of the filter history and filter coefficients based on the scaling factor, and determining at least one physiological parameter based on the filtered PPG signal.

A medical monitoring system includes an oximetry sensor having a light emitter positioned to emit light into a patient and a photodetector positioned to generate a plethysmography signal. The system includes a monitor having a processor configured to receive the plethysmography signal from the oximetry sensor and to identify a non-cardiac pulse based on a first pulse shape metric, the non-cardiac pulse being generated by the administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the patient. The processor is also configured to measure an oxygen saturation of the patient from the identified non-cardiac pulse and to output the measured oxygen saturation to a visual display.

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and software for measuring and determining physiological parameters of a patient are presented. In one example, a physiological measurement system includes an optical system configured to emit one or more optical signals into tissue of a patient, and detect the one or more optical signals after propagation through the tissue. The physiological measurement system includes a capacitance system configured to apply one or more electric field signals to a single side of the tissue to determine a capacitance signal based at least on changes in the one or more electric field signals, and a processing system configured to process at least the one or more detected optical signals and the capacitance signal to determine a physiological parameter of the patient.
