A spring clip for mounting ceiling panels equipped with torsion springs to a ceiling support grid and ceiling systems including the same. The ceiling system may include a grid support member that is elongated along a longitudinal axis and has a bulbous top portion having a downward facing bottom surface and a spring clip that is configured to be mounted to the grid support member. The spring clip may include an upper portion that defines a receptacle that is configured to receive the bulbous top portion of the grid support member and a lower portion that is configured to be located below the downward facing bottom surface of the bulbous top portion when the bulbous top portion is received within the receptacle of the upper portion.

Ceiling system

Described herein is a spring clip for mounting ceiling panels equipped with torsion springs to a ceiling support grid. The spring clip includes a body including a mounting portion defining a downwardly open receptacle configured for receiving a portion of a ceiling grid support member of the ceiling support grid, the downwardly open receptacle extending along a receptacle axis from a first side open end to a second side open end; and a pair of lateral flanges extending transversely outwards from the mounting portion and terminating in lateral edges, at least one of the flanges includes a slot extending parallel to the receptacle axis and configured to receive arms of a torsion spring, and a lateral opening extending from the lateral edge to the slot to allow lateral insertion of the arms of the torsion spring into the slot.

Described herein is a ceiling system that includes a spring clip for mounting ceiling panels equipped with torsion springs to a ceiling support grid, the clip comprising: a body including a mounting portion defining a downwardly open receptacle configured for attachment to a ceiling grid support member; a pair of lateral flanges extending outwards from the mounting portion, at least one of the flanges including a slot configured to engage a torsion spring; a pair locking tabs disposed on the spring clip, the locking tabs configured to engage opposing sides of the grid support member.

A ceiling system in one embodiment includes a grid support member, a ceiling panel, a torsion spring mounted on the ceiling panel, and a spring clip slideably mounted on the grid support member and configured to retain the spring. The spring clip includes a pair of resilient locking tabs engaging the grid support member to lock the clip to the member, thereby preventing withdrawing the clip from the support member. In one embodiment, the locking tabs form a snap-fit to the grid support member. The spring clip is positionable in a plurality of axial mounting positions on the grid support member to facilitate mounting the ceiling panel. In one embodiment, the grid support member may have a T-shaped cross section.
