An implant, in particular an intraluminal endoprosthesis, or a semi-finished part for an implant, having a hollow cylindrical body, wherein the body includes magnesium, and the body is enriched with gallium or a gallium alloy in a region close to a surface.

Implant and method for production thereof

A medical implant that includes a scaffold having at least one receptacle for an X-ray marker. The scaffold includes a first metal. At least one (preferably monolithic) X-ray marker is disposed in the receptacle. The X-ray marker includes a second metal. An electrically insulating coating is upon the X-ray marker to prevent corrosion-promoting contact between the X-ray marker and the scaffold.

An orthopedic implant, such as a bone screw with a self-tapping thread, is formed of a biodegradable material such as a magnesium alloy. A bioactive surface coating is provided on the implant, such as at the threading. The coating contains micro-abrasives which assist with screw/implant penetration, and/or contains microcapsules containing lubricant, wherein the microcapsules rupture from pressure and frictional heat as the implant penetrates bone.

A bone screw formed primarily of a magnesium alloy has a self-tapping thread, and is prestressed with a retained torsional stress oriented oppositely to the direction in which the screw is screwed into bone. The pre-stressing opposes the torsional stresses arising from screwing in the screw, thereby raising the effective strength of the screw and/or allowing for a reduction in its size/mass.

A stent made of nitinol having improved axial or radial stiffness, the stent having a support structure which comprises peripheral struts around the circumference, wherein the peripheral struts are linked to one another in the axial direction via connection struts. The invention relates to stents made of a material with an elongation at rupture of 30% or less and with a tubular base body which entirely or in parts comprises structural segments which are interconnected in longitudinal direction of the stents by means of transverse connectors and in which the structural segments comprise a zigzagging or undulating structure of a brace which is wrapped around the longitudinal axis of the stent. Due to the mechanical properties of the materials used, adaptation of the stent design is required. This is achieved in that in a turning region of the zigzagging or undulating structure the brace comprises a straight bending section aligned in circumferential direction.

The invention concerns a stent comprising a longitudinal axis () and a peripheral wall () which is formed at least over a part of the length of the stent () by a lattice-like carrier structure () which is open at two ends. The carrier structure includes at least one bar () extending helically around the longitudinal axis in such a way as to provide a helical primary shape () for the peripherally extending bar with more than one helical turn. Besides the helical primary shape () the bar has a zigzag-like or meander-shaped secondary shape () with reversal points and associated reversal portions (), between which extend bar portions () of the peripherally extending bar with an extension component in the longitudinal direction of the stent.
