Disclosed is a side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm. The side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm is designed to be a simple and immediate upgrade to various firearms, for example, pistol-caliber AR platform rifles. The side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm includes the following components: a handguard, a barrel nut, a forward retention unit, a charging catch, a charging rod, and a charging handle. The side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm works without any additional proprietary components. The side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm allows a user to charge a firearm with a user's left or right hand while maintaining a horizontal position aimed at a target. The side-mounted forward charging system for a firearm gives a safety advantage to a user, allows for more accurate and quicker targeting while charging, and provides for overall efficiency while operating the firearm.

A method and system is provided for a semi-autonomous vehicle to have optional routes that vary in an amount of autonomous driving offered. The system performs processes including aggregating data from various sources to thereby position and orient the vehicle, assigning an autonomous driving value to different route segments, determining an optimal route by minimizing a distance between a start position and a destination position and maximizing the percent autonomous value assigned, and displaying the optimal route.

An in-vehicle system for estimating a lane boundary based on raised pavement markers that mark the boundary. The in-vehicle system includes a camera for obtaining image data regarding reflective raised pavement markers and non-reflective raised pavement markers, an image processor for processing frames of image data captured by the camera, a lidar detector for obtaining lidar data regarding reflective raised pavement markers, and a lidar processor for processing frames of lidar data captured by the lidar detector. The image processor generates a first probabilistic model for the lane boundary and the lidar processor generates a second probabilistic model for the lane boundary. The in-vehicle system fuses the first probabilistic model and the second probabilistic model to generate a fused probabilistic model and estimates the lane boundary based on the fused probabilistic model.

A method for checking the visibility of a camera for surroundings of an automobile is proposed which includes receiving a camera image and a step of dividing the camera image into a plurality of partial images. A visibility value is determined based on a number of objects detected in the particular partial image. A visibility probability is subsequently determined for each of the partial images based on the blindness values and the visibility values of the particular partial images.

A windshield wiper spray nozzle offset device includes an offset arm and an attachment device. The offset arm includes an offset leg extending from a clamping base. The attachment device is preferably a clamp plate and at least two fasteners. The at least two fasteners are preferably used to secure the clamping base and clamp plate to opposing sides of the wiper arm. However, other attachment devices may also be used, such as spring clips. The wiper arm may also be modified by making the offset arm as an integral portion of the wiper arm. A nozzle snap-on retainer and a hose snap-on retainer are removed from the wiper arm and snapped on to the offset leg. The offset position of the spray nozzle increases the spray area thereof.
