Plug assembly including first and second plug connectors that are configured to be stacked with respect to each other. Each of the first and second plug connectors has a mating side that extends between leading and trailing ends along a plug axis. The mating side includes an attachment area and an exposed area that are laterally adjacent to each other. Each of the first and second plug connectors also has an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield section coupled to the mating side at the attachment area. The mating sides of the first and second plug connectors interface with each other when the first and second plug connectors are stacked. The EMI shield section of the first plug connector engages the mating side of the second plug connector at the exposed area. The EMI shield section of the second plug connector engages the other mating side at the exposed area.

An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having a tongue including an upper surface, a lower surface, and opposite side surfaces. A plurality of signal contacts are held by the housing and are exposed along the upper surface. At least one power contact is held by the housing and is exposed along one of the opposite side surfaces. Optionally, the tongue and signal contacts define an eSATA mating interface configured for mating with a plug of a serial cable defining an eSATA plug interface.

An electrical plug assembly includes a housing, a latch and an actuator. The housing extends along a longitudinal axis and is configured to mate with a receptacle assembly. The latch is movably coupled to the housing and has a latching end configured to latch and unlatch the receptacle assembly. The actuator is interconnected with the housing and the latch. The actuator is movable in both a push direction and a pull direction. The actuator raises the latching end when the actuator is pushed along the longitudinal axis in the push direction. The actuator also raises the latching end when the actuator is pulled along the pull direction.

An arrangement for securing an electrical connector (10) to a printed circuit board (14) includes a planar barbed holding device (12) installed within a recess (38) of a mounting portion (36) on the connector for subsequent insertion into an appropriately aligned cavity (40) in the printed circuit board. The recess is formed with an inner wall (62) for limiting insertion of the holding device and depth compensation protrusions (64) are provided on the inner wall to insure proper orientation and seating of the holding device within a required tolerance range.

An electrical connector assembly (10) includes first and second matable connectors (12,52), each having a housing (14,54) with at least two rows of teminal-receiving passageways (32,72) extending between mating and mounting faces thereof, each having a terminal member (34,74) mounted therein. One connector (12) further includes an elongate electrically conductive ground bus means (40) extending between two rows of terminal members (34) and securable to the housing (14). The ground bus means (40) includes first ground engagement means (42) adapted to electrically engage a ground means of the assembly. The ground bus means (40) further has means (44) for securing the respective housing (14) to a circuit board (96) and concomitantly therewith electrically interconnect the bus means 40 to respective circuits thereof. The other connector (52) includes a ground contact (80) having second ground engagement means (88) adapted to electrically engage the first ground engagement (42) means upon mating the connectors (12,52). The ground contact (80 ) further including means (90) for securing the connector (52) to a second circuit board (102) and concomitantly therewith electrically interconnect the ground contact (80) to ground means of the assembly. The first and second ground engagement means (42,88) are exposed along respective connector mating faces (16,56) and are adapted to go past each other and bear against each other under spring bias when the connectors (12,52) are mated.

Grounded electrical connector assembly

A biasing device for card edge connectors. More particularly, the biasing device is formed from suitable materials and includes as an integral part thereof a spring member which biases the device in the connector.
