An information handling system includes a storage that stores a thermal table associated with the information handling system. A processor detects that the information handling system is connected to a dock. In response to the information handling system being connected to the dock, the processor provides a dock temperature request to the dock. The processor receives a first temperature value for the dock, and receives a second temperature value for the information handling system. The processor retrieves thermal table data from the thermal table. The processor generates a first fan control signal based on the first and second temperature values and the thermal table data, and provides the first fan control signal to the dock.

Docked cooling control for a handheld information handling system

A method for updating firmware on a device in an information handling system in a resilient manner is described. The method includes receiving a new firmware for updating a device; storing a current firmware image or a working copy of the current firmware of the device in a volatile memory; updating the device with the new firmware after storing the current firmware in the volatile memory; setting a first boot flag to perform diagnostics at a next reset of the information handling system based on updating the device with the new firmware; and determining, by the information handling system at the next reset in response to the first boot flag, whether the device satisfies at least one criteria indicating the new firmware is operational on the device. An information handling system that includes the device and performs the method is also described.

Firmware distribution method for an information handling system

Systems and methods are provided for utilizing a heterogeneous computing platform of an IHS to mitigate risks posed by onlookers to content displayed by the IHS (Information Handling System). An orchestrator device of the IHS uses resources of the heterogeneous computing platform to detect an onlooker in proximity to the IHS. The gaze of the onlooker is determined and an area of a display of the IHS that is within the gaze of the onlooker is identified. The area of the display that is within the gaze of the onlooker is indicated to the user of the IHS, such as by drawing a boundary around the area of the display that is within the onlooker's gaze.

Systems and methods for indicating onlooker vulnerability

Methods and systems provide power management for workspaces operating on an Information Handling System (IHS). Power management capabilities of the IHS are registered with a workspace orchestration service that is remote from the IHS and that manages deployment of workspaces on the IHS. The workspaces are instantiated on the IHS according to a respective workspace definition that is provided by the workspace orchestration service. The remote workspace orchestration service provides a first workspace with a handle for accessing the registered power management capabilities of the IHS. A remote access controller of the IHS receives reports of application events occurring in the first workspace, wherein the reports are received by the handle provided by the remote workspace orchestration service. Based on the application events received from the first workspace, power provided by a power supply of the IHS is allocated to each of a plurality of processors of the IHS.

Systems and methods for power management for modern workspaces

Methods and system support use of peripheral devices by workspaces operating on an Information Handling System (IHS), where the workspaces operate in isolation from the hardware and other software of the IHS. Workspaces are thus unable to interface with hardware coupled to the IHS, including peripheral devices coupled to the IHS. In embodiments, workspace issue request for use of a remote operation supported by a peripheral device. A handle is then provided for invoking the remote operation supported by the peripheral device and for providing the workspace with exclusive use of the peripheral device for the duration of a validity of the handle. One the handle is used to invoke the remote operation supported by the peripheral device, the workspace is provided with output from the remote operation conducted during exclusive use of the peripheral device by the workspace.

Systems and methods for sustained power limit control in heterogenous computing platforms are described. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include: a heterogeneous computing platform comprising a plurality of devices; and a memory coupled to the heterogeneous computing platform, where the memory includes firmware instructions that, upon execution by at least one of the plurality of devices, causes the at least one device to operate as an orchestrator configured to: compare a current power level used by a selected device against a sustained power limit; and in response to a determination that the current power level exceeds the sustained power limit, control the selected device to reduce the current power level.

Based on execution of these firmware instructions by a respective device, a corresponding firmware service is provided such that one of the devices operates as an orchestrator. The orchestrator receives reports of changes in context of operation of the IHS by a user and determines one or more thermal settings that are mapped to the reported user context, where the thermal settings configure thermal operations by the IHS. The orchestrator configures thermal operations by the IHS based on the thermal settings, where the configured thermal operations are utilized until additional reports of changes in user context are received by the orchestrator.

Systems and methods for adaptive thermal configurations in a heterogeneous computing platform

Systems and methods for configuring peripherals in response to accidents are described. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include: a processor; and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to: obtain a notification of a shock event of the IHS; communicate information regarding the shock event to peripheral firmware of one or more peripherals of the IHS. The peripheral firmware may receive the information regarding the shock event of the IHS from the IHS; and responsive to the information, perform a corrective action. In some embodiments, the corrective action includes a configuration update and a communication to the IHS of the configuration update, a self-test scan for health of the peripheral, shutting off port or data access to the peripheral, and/or collection of telemetry of the peripheral.

Systems and methods for managing performance in heterogenous computing platforms of IHSs (Information Handling Systems) are described. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, a heterogeneous computing platform includes devices and a memory storing firmware instructions. Based on execution of these firmware instructions by a respective device, a corresponding firmware service is provided such that one of the devices operates as an orchestrator. The orchestrator receives reports of changes in context of operation of the IHS by a user and determines a power allocation that is mapped to the reported user context, where the mapping allocates available power to the plurality of devices of the heterogeneous computing platform. The orchestrator configures the power that available for use by one or more of the plurality of devices of the heterogeneous computing platform, and thus adjusts the performance of the IHS in response to the change in user context.
