A fully electrically controlled electric braking system is provided for a road vehicle fitted with wheels (). Each of the wheels is connected for rotation to at least one rotary electric machine () specific thereto, with at least one electronic wheel control module () controlling the electric machine(s) () of that wheel. Each electronic wheel control module () makes it possible to impart selectively to a corresponding wheel a control torque of determined amplitude and sign, in such a way that the corresponding wheel imparts to the vehicle a drive force or a braking force in accordance with the control torque. The system includes a central unit () for managing vehicle displacement, the central unit () controlling all the electronic wheel control modules (). The central unit () has a vehicle braking mode activated by a vehicle braking control signal having a given amplitude representing a total desired braking force for the fully electrically controlled wheels. In the braking mode, whatever the amplitude of the braking control signal, the central unit () controls all the electronic wheel control modules () in such a way that the sum of the longitudinal forces of all the wheels is a function of the amplitude of the braking control signal, the function being proportional, for example.

The ground contact system comprises a wheel, a hub carrier, means for driving the wheel using at least one rotary motor secured to the hub carrier, reduction means comprising at least one gearwheel connected to the wheel and at least one pinion connected to the rotary motor, a sliding-bar suspension suspending the wheel from a support connected to the vehicle, and braking means. The braking means comprises a brake disc connected by its periphery to the wheel, and a brake calliper positioned inside the brake disc.

At least one wheel is arranged transversely on one side of the body and at least one other wheel is arranged on the other side of the body. Each height variation mechanism is actuated by height control means (). The vehicle has centralised control means () for the height control means, and the action of the height control means on each side of the body is coordinated so that on that side of the body, the relative height of each suspension support is varied simultaneously.

A vehicle has at least two driving wheels, each driven by an electric motor M via a gear change mechanism having at least two reduction gears. A sensor senses the rotation speed of the driving wheels. The gear change on the two driving wheels is carried out in an initial phase by: (a) releasing the current gear on a driving wheel referred to as the 'operated' wheel, and stopping it in the neutral position, (b) changing the revolution speed of the motor so as to synchronize it as a function of the reduction of the gear to be engaged on the operated wheel, using as an estimate of the speed to-be-reached a speed information item obtained from another driving wheel, referred to as the 'sensor' wheel, and (c) engaging the intended gear on the &#x201c;operated&#x201d; wheel. Then, in a successive phase, the gear on the other driving wheel is changed in the same manner by reversing the roles of the sensor wheel and the operated wheel.

Traction chain for an automobile vehicle including a wheel support (K) which supports a rotating hub designed to receive a drive wheel (W), and a rotating toothed wheel having the same rotation axis as that of the drive wheel, the toothed wheel meshing directly with the hub. At least two gear-wheels are permanently engaged with the toothed wheel and are rotated by an input shaft that is driven by an electric motor. A gear ratio change shifter mechanism is shiftable between first and second driving positions and a neutral non-driving position. In the first driving position the shifter mechanism directly connects the input shaft with one of the gear-wheels. In the second driving position the shifter mechanism indirectly connects the input shaft with the other gear-wheel through a transmission path which establishes a gear reduction ratio different from the gear ratio established by the direct connection.
