In a system where a print device is connected to a computing device but not to an external web service that relates to the print device, the computing device implements a print driver session that retrieves print device operational data, identifies the web service, and generates a barcode that encodes the device operational data as a data string with a web address for a web service. A user may use a mobile electronic device to receive an image of the generated barcode, decode the barcode to detect the web address and the device operational data, and send a web service request comprising the device operational data to a web service associated with the web address. When the mobile electronic device receives a response that is responsive to the web service request, it may present the response to a user via a display of the mobile electronic device.

Method and system for print driver based information exchange

A system for automatically indexing printed documents comprising a database for maintaining indexing data indicative of the identity and location of the documents, a processor interfacing with the database, the processor producing a document file containing both a printable content and an RFID taggable content, a printing device for printing the documents including a controller, an RFID tag writer and an RFID tag dispenser, wherein the controller directs the printable content to the printing device and the taggable content to the RFID writer, a plurality of file folders for retaining the tagged documents, an RFID tag attached to each of the file folders and a storage unit for storing the plurality of tagged file folders.

A document protection method may include retrieving a document from a memory device, encrypting the document using an encryption tool, imaging a decryption key on an imaging medium, and reading the decryption key to decrypt the document. A document protection system may include at least one controller configured to control imaging of a decryption key on a medium, a memory storage device configured to store a document, an decryption tool configured to encrypt the document, and a decryption tool configured to read the decryption key to decrypt the document.

Electronic document protection system and method

An electronic image processing apparatus includes a controller and a plurality of resources in an arbitrary configuration. Each of the resources provides an associated processor storing data related to operational capabilities of the associated resource. The controller is adapted to dynamically configure the image processing apparatus to operate in accordance with the the operational capabilities of each of the processors by defining job requirements as a combination of images defining a set of sheets and specifying compilations of sheets. The job requirement is converted into an assembly tree relationship for merging into additional assembly trees for formulating the job requirement. The controller responds to the data related to the operational capabilities of each of the modules and to the the assembly tree relationship of images, copy sheets, and compilations of copy sheets for providing a production tree relationship of the operational capabilities of the modules including timing relationships for operating the image processing apparatus. The production tree relationship further permits arbitrary definition of a job requirement into a first segment independent of the capabilities of the modules and a second segment dependent upon selected capabilities of selected modules to allow the image processing apparatus to be partially configured based upon operator entered constraints. This technique further allows adaptive control of selective diagnostics.

An electronic image processing apparatus has a controller and a plurality of resources in an arbitrary configuration. Each of the resources includes an associated processor storing data related to operational constraints of the associated resource and a bus interconnects the processors to the controller for directing the operation of the resources. The controller is adapted to operate independent of a particular configuration of the plurality of resources by receiving from each of the processors the data related to the operational constraints of each associated resource and interrogating each of the processors to determine the geometrical relationship of the interconnection of the resources. The controller then responds to the data related to the operational constraints of each of the processors and to the geometrical relationship of the interconnection of the resources to dynamically configure the image processing apparatus to operate in accordance with the the operational constraints of each of the processors and to the geometrical relationship of the interconnection of the resources.
