A squeezable, white polypropylene film is disclosed having a novel balance of conformability, stiffness, modulus, opacity, and whiteness. The film includes an ABCBA structure having a core layer of polypropylene resin with an elastomeric copolymer and a cavitating agent. Two intermediate layers of polypropylene resin are present on either side, the intermediate layers optionally including an elastomeric copolymer and a pigmenting agent. Two polymer skin layers surround the two intermediate layers. The resins are co-extruded into a biaxially oriented film having a thickness between 40 to 70 pm for use in pressure-sensitive labeling applications.

White, conformable films for pressure-sensitive-labeling applications

This disclosure provides compositions, films, labels, structures and methods that may include a substrate having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises a skin layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the compositions may include a coating on the skin layer, wherein the coating comprises a topcoat and a primer, wherein the topcoat consists of: (i) at least 50 wt. % high-density polyethylene and one or more polyethylene polymers in water; (ii) wax, silicone or combination thereof; and (iii) optionally additives, whereupon imaging the composition by a thermal print head at a temperature of 300&#xb0; C. or less results in no or negligible solvent-penetrability beneath the skin layer.

Linerless adhesive activation

A polymer film that includes a polymeric substrate having a first side and a second side; a back-side coating on the first side of the substrate, the back-side coating formed from at least an ionomer, an acrylic emulsion, and at least one inorganic material, said inorganic material comprising a majority of particles have a mean largest dimension in the range of 0.2 &#x3bc;m to 25 &#x3bc;m; and a polymeric surface layer in contact with the second side of the polymeric substrate is described. Articles, such as labels, and methods of making films and labels are also described.

Coated polymeric film

A method useful for applying labels to a container, the labels having an activatable adhesive coating on a surface thereon, the adhesive is activated by contact with a low viscosity activator solution from an apparatus comprising at least a label pallet that receives a low viscosity activator solution by contact with a spinning roller, the spinning roller receives at least one stream of the low viscosity activator solution delivered or sprayed by a fluid manifold.
